I just read your comment, so I will give some info about the picture.
First you need a good tripod and you have to fix your camera toward the pole. The pole is the center of the circles. It is different for the northern and the southern hemispheres. Also you can use a compass or/and take a test picture.
In my case these were 5 pictures, 15 minutes each plus one 5 minutes which gave final exposure of 80 minutes.
The other camera settings were ISO 1250 and f4.0.
Process as you wish in your favorite RAW converter, you can make it lighter or sharper or apply other corrections.
The final step is to stack the pictures in one final picture. There are different software capable of doing this. I liked the result from StarStax.
Just to mention that it's better not to wait much between exposures because waiting results in gaps in the arcs (the arc is the path of a star). If you look at my picture at 100% you will notice it. I don't know if it is an effect or a defect:) Best result will be achieved if you can automate the process, so that the camera takes the sequence of exposures on its own. I wasn't able to do it with my k-5 IIs so I did it manually.
The more time you spend in exposures the better and complete circles you will get.

Hello, how the exams are going?
I'll be glad if you can find some spare time to put some light on focus adjustment through the lensrom.
Greetings

Thanks for your reply. It gives me great hope:) I will wait patiently for your excel file.
Good luck with your exams. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to take them all soon :)
BTW: I tried to compare two different lensroms for the same lens but I see that most of the values are quite different. I was thinking of try-error sequences but I will rather wait.

I think it should be possible to do focus correction through the lensrom but does anybody know which data has to be modified?

I'm thinking about buying a k1 but I'd like to use my favorite sigma lenses 24-70 and 400 AF and also my great sigma 610 super flash. Currently i feel kind of uncertain that the transition from my k5 iis to k1 will be flawless... all my equipment is working fine on my k5 iis but I also need good quality above ISO 1600 ;)

I'd like to ask if anyone has tried the old Sigma 24-70/2.8 Macro on Pentax K-1? The question is not just if it fit mechanically but also if the metering and focusing operations are correct.
Thanks

The place is Tsigov Chark, Bulgaria. You can read more about it here: Tsigov Chark resort in Rodope mountain, Bulgaria ---------- Post added 10-30-16 at 08:36 PM ----------
Thanks. These are 6 shots. 5x15min + 1x5min, stacked in StarStax. The picture was kind of experiment but I like the result:)

Thanks! As everywhere outside the city the sky is more clear:) All three pictures are taken during traveling in the mountains above 1000 meters sea level.

In short, with a lot of patience:) These are many frames stacked in DeepSkyStacker.
What I found as really interesting is that it is possible to take such pictures with a small device which costs under $200. The classical approach is to buy some heavy and expensive equipment for astro pictures. I have never thought that I will be able to do this with a conventional camera/lens without any additional hardware:) The quality is not as high as it can be with specialized equipment but what you can see in deep space for that price is just amazing.

Yes, these are stacked in DSS. I also have to move the camera/lens many times when i take pictures with the O-GPS1 unit. As I don't have any other equipment for astro tracing, it is my only possibility to look deeper in the sky:) If you gave up on the O-GPS1, are you using anything else instead?
For these pictures I was tweaking the white balance in order to make them more colorful and I also increased the saturation. So the colors may be shifted but the pictures are more colorful this way.

Hello,
I'd like to share some pictures taken with Pentax O-GPS1 unit attached on a Pentax K-5 IIs camera. Two different 300mm/f4.0 lenses are used. Sigma 300/4 Macro and Pentax M*300/4.
I think these are interesting results for the O-GPS1 unit:)
Any comments are welcome.

Then it must be some kind of mechanical issue as the difference between iso 100 and iso 800 is quite obvious on DPR samples.

Hello,
I'd like to ask if someone could do a short test with k-1.
Because all that k-1 shutter shock noise started from the DPR samples, it will be interesting to see if the sharpening is changing with the ISO change. It means that the speed should be the same - 1/40 and the ISO to be 100 and 800. It will show if it is Pentax image processing (increased sharpness with ISO increase) or some kind of shock.
Thanks :)

Thanks Adam. I'm glad to know that someone else likes this picture also. I spent some time on it... I even tried to make it HDR but the result wasn't good. Finally I left it as it is with a little correction of dark and bright areas. Still when I look at that picture I feel like I was in the right place at the right time :)

+1! Pentax K-5iis is a good camera ;)
As the hardware is the same, there should be change in the list of commands which the new lens can recognize. Technically old bodies should be able to send the new commands after firmware update. It is still possible that there is a deeper change in the communication protocol but it doesn't seem to be necessary.

Thanks for the answer. I actually mean any Pentax compatible AF lens. It can be Sigma or any other brand.
Normally the result of an electronics issue is: lens stops reporting settings to the camera. In result of that the camera can't AF with that lens anymore. Also for the minimum F number could be shown a wrong value.
The problem with old lenses is that no one offers parts for them. So no repairing possible. As there are many old AF compatible lense for Pentax I'd like to get an idea how often it happens. I already know about two Sigma lenses with dead electronics.
That thread is kind of addition to a thread which I started before: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/189-repairs-warranty-service/324002-penta...-protocol.html
I already have some ideas how to go further but I still wonder should I dig more and spent more time on that issue...
Thanks for reading :) ---------- Post added 06-25-16 at 02:52 PM ----------
Thanks Bruce. In your case you got lucky because it has happened during the warranty period.
I don't have enough information for any conclusions but it seems that sigma have some weak points in their lens electronics or they just have sold more lenses than the other lens makers :)

Hello everyone,
I'd like to get an idea how often lenses fail because of electronics issues.
Normally this happens to AF lenses that are more than 10 years old but may happen with newer lenses also.
So if you have such lenses or if you know about such lenses please give some details.
Thanks

Thanks for the info. I find it very useful. ExifTool source gave me more ideas how to interpret the values.
Also I found some interesting threads in the ExifTool Forum.
I see that I have to play with more lenses and explore the values :)

Both are screw drive. These are not newest modern lenses but I think they should contain consistent EEP tables as they are AF lenses.
