Debug mode with K10D FW 1.31

Sorry, I was not clear in my post: I was talking about how to make it the procedure work on macOS! In this case, windows line endings (that signals a new line in the text file), is what you want to use. Advanced text editors like Sublime Text do offer this functionality on Mac :)

How to make it work on macOS:

the textfile one has to put on the sd card to enter the debug mode
has to use windows line endings (line ending is a code that signals a new line)
to make it work using a mac i used sublime text
in sublime text on mac i can set the line ending format to windows
also don’t forget to hit enter after putting your text, to actually create a new line ;)

hope that helps!

i recently also started disassembling a q 06 lens. wanted to access the front elements to clean out a massive dust there. started from the back and stopped when realising that things might get to tricky. unfortunately i disconnected the ribbon cables and there is one that i just am not to be able to reconnect so far.

anyways, thanks for your photos and looking forward to see how far you can get!

oh hi vienna!

funnily i took a very similar shot just a few days ago at 4:30am in the morning. although with an iphone 14. sun was already coming up and i think this photo shows nicely what rpjallan was talking about! i like your composition better tough.
yes, donauinsel is a wonderful place!

did you ever consider using a prime? this could improve your image quality, also because of being able to use smaller apertures...
in general for best night shots a tripod would be good!

oh no! that is bad news. any idea what the problem could be and if it is fixable or maybe just a hick up?
i'd only return it at last resort, as that will be rather comlicated as i am in europe and the lens was shipped from japan..

---------- Post added 08-11-23 at 05:56 AM ----------

it was advertised as working perfectly. but on the fotos one can actually already see, that it is possible to look through the lens.
does that mean it will always shoot at the maximum aperture of f2.8?

too bad i can't test it yet, but should have a q7 (which hopefully works fine) in 2 weeks.

hello,

i just recently required a 02 as well as 06 zoom lens on ebay from japan.
as i do not have a q camera yet, i can not test if they work properly.
but i noticed that when removing both caps it is possible to look through the lens on the 06.
however this is not the case with the 02 standard zoom, it is not possible to look through.
can anyone who owns the 02 confirm that this is normal behaviour?

thank you!

i was lucky at an ebay auction and got it for a really good price (half for what it usually sells used).
so i won't be able to get another one at this price...

thanks for the tip, screws are tight!

---------- Post added 04-06-16 at 03:04 AM ----------

i did some infinity focus test shots outdoors (this time on k5) yesterday.
the right side is definitely off.

not a good landscape lens like this, but it is still fun (and usable) in regular snapshot scenarios.
plus: my first limited, great fov, kinda in love with it ;)

i am not sure if i will return it, as i got it for 160€, which is kinda a bargain.
still, seller claimed the lens to be perfect...

so one big question is:
is this repairable for hobby tinkerers?
if it would have to be repaired professionally, any experiences on expected costs?

thanks for all your answers!

its an smc version i recently bought used on ebay and the buyer claims that he never had any problems. however, it was sent by mail, so maybe it got damaged during transport.

i kinda tried to do something like a brickwall shot.
the crops i attached are 100%, wide open.

---------- Post added 04-04-16 at 03:32 AM ----------

your pics look fine, maybe i should test it more...

i used manual focus and live view for the test shots.

---------- Post added 04-04-16 at 03:49 AM ----------

I don't understand. You mean that at minimum focus distance and infinity focus the Field of view appears to be different? [/QUOTE]

The image is slightly moving to the left or right when turning the focus ring. You can only notice it in magnified liveview. Never seen this before and not very comforting...

I had the camera meter the scene and the wall actually has this sandy color.
anyways, i will try to make better test shots soon!

here you can find the original files with f3.2, f5.6 and f8.

da 21 image quality problems?

i got hold of a da 21 and am not sure, if the lens is actually working correctly.

firstmost i was dissapointed by the image quality i got out of it, especially at the corners.
so i did some testing
.
while manually focusing in zoomed in (10x) live view i noticed, that the image shifts slightly, but clearly visible, when turning the focus ring.
camera was on a tripod and i was doublechecking that i did not accidently move the camera while focusing.

while the image quality at the corners might just be what this lens delivers, even sharpness at the center is really bad for a prime at 3.2, imo.
i attached a 100% crop of center and top right corners at f3.2 (k3, tripod, timed shutter release, no sr, manual focusing).

what do you think?

so i tried to remove the front retainer using a spanner wrench and pliers. however, that didn't work.
seems like i might need some acetone, as described here:

well, in the meantime i managed to reassemble the lens and have been using it happily.
still, i would like to try to get rid of the fungus later.

how much acetone would i use and where exactly would i put it?
could i use nail polish remover to dissolve the lacquer?

best,
j

So I bid and won on a Super-Takumar 35mm on ebay. Seller described as no fungus, unfortunately not at all true.
There's fungus all around the edges of the front lens. I requested a discount and kept the lens, planning to try some fungus removal.

Well, I got quite far disassembling the lens (let's see about assembling…).

The front element, however, I can't open. Is it possible at all?

Thanks for any tips!

Best,
J
