I purchased a used Pentax FA28-80mm f3.5-5.6 lens (silver) It dosen't have a lens hood. It requires a 58mm screw type hood. Does anyone know the model number of the Pentax hood for this lens?

Question about polarizing filters

I mostly use my polarizer to give an otherwise pale blue sky some punch and make the clouds "pop". In most cases (for me anyway) this condition is on a nice sunny day so the 2 f stop loss has little effect. I don't like to make the sky too blue as this seems to make it look artificial. I turn the filter to the deepest blue I can get then turn it back a bit to lighten it up.

I keep a battery in my K10D and in the grip. I was concerned that by leaving the camera on auto that I could end up with two dead batteries as I wouldn't have any notification when one battery died. So I had selected the option to use the battery in the grip.:D I was taking photos of my cousin's baby's first birthday and the battery in the grip died.:o I didn't even have enough power to go to the menue and switch over to the battery in the camera, so I ended up taking off the grip, taking out the battery in the camera and putting it in the grip. Hind site beng 20/20 I guess I could have left the grip off, maybe.
I have 3 batteries, if I had brought the 3rd battery, I could have put it in the grip in the blink of an eye. From now on I'll keep the 3rd battery close. I just thought I would share this experiance with all of you.

Scott,
Sorry for the delay, I don't get out much ha ha. Yes I received my grip about five days after I purchased it! The grip functions fine, I haven't had any problems with it. There is no doupt in my mind that it improves the feel of the camera.
I have never had a Pentax grip in my hand to compare it with the one I bought but I'm sure the Pentax grip would weigh more because of the weather seals and probably heavier construction. Thie lighter grip could prove to be a plus for me as I find the K10D to be HEAVY!

Phil,
I purchased the same grip for my K10D. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now with no problems. It sure improves the over all feel of the camera. I know it dosen't have all the seals of the Pentax grip, in fact it probably dosen't have any, but I'm happy with it.

I use a Bower Slide Duplicator that attaches to the digital camera lens. I know this isn't very hi-tec but for my budget it works well.

I'm thinking about buying a set of extension tubes. I notice that most of the eBay sales have sets that will not allow auto focusing. I'm wondering if most people who do close-up/macro photography preferr to manual focus or rely on the cameras auto focus?

I've been following eBay auctions for battery grips. (off subject for a second...why do people pay $150.00 and more for one on eBay when they cost $140.00 at B&H ?) anyway, tonight I noticed a couple made in China for $80.00 US that look idenical to the Pentax grip. Does anyone out there have one of these and if so how do the perform?

I was wondering how many people set this feature to operate each time the camera is turned on vs activating it occasionally and is it normal to be loud when it does vibrate?

Hello everyone,
I just joined this forum hoping I would be able to talk to someone about my problem. I was pleased to find this thread.
My problem is with the down load, I can't seem to be able to down load it onto my computer. I have to admit that I am practically "computer illiterate". My HP computer has Vista 2000 and I'm not sure if that is the problem. It seems, from reading these posts, that it should be a simple thing to down load the updates. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks:o
