Pentax ME - Shutter release button stuck

Hi Sandra, I have the same problem with a Pentax MG and your winder assembly looks almost identical. I am currently looking up videos of how to fix it but haven't yet found exactly what I need. I am at the prodding and poking / hope for the best stage at the moment and I have managed to release the mirror as it was stuck in the UP position. You will at the very least need a very fine magnetic screwdiver and maybe a tool to remove that screw in the center of the winding mechanism, mine conveniently has a normal screw in there whereas yours does not.

If I can get this sorted I'll let you know :-)

K1000 Light Meter

Thank you all for your input. I have found the video on YouTube and it doesn't "Look" too scary !!

I have cut the wire back to good metal and it is indeed a little too short to work with very easily so a complete replacement is probably my answer. Yes after 35 years all of the seals are shot but I figured do the tricky wire first then the rest is easy :-)

One further question though if I remove the top plate, do I need to add a light seal to that along with the bottom plate or only the door closures and the mirror bumper foam please?

Had thought of that thanks but the wire is very short and difficult to get at. I may have to give it a go but thought the replacement option may be easier.

Hi,

I am trying to repair my K1000 I purchased 35 years ago and it has a light meter problem. I removed the base plate to confirm the usual rotted wire problem but the wire is now too short to re-solder. I assume this means I have to remove the top plate and replace the wire entirely. Am I correct and is this difficult please?

Thank you.

Pentax K-r + Pentax SMC F 35-80mm 1:4-5.6

Hi,

All my other lenses work fine so the K-r body is fine. It has to be the lens. It is only the focus that is not working, with the camera and lens set to full auto the aperture is always good. I just almost always need to throw the manual focus switch on the camera body because of the focus problem.

Thanks.

I have used alcohol 96 to clean them and it doesn't help. One time in ten I will attach the lens and everything is fine - the other nine times I have to use manual focus. Could it be the motor?

I take it that they are compatible and this is a problem with the lens?

Hi,

Sorry if this is a daft question but I am wondering about the compatibility of my Pentax SMC F 35-80mm 1:4-5.6 AF Lens and my K-r.

Sometimes the AutoFocus works and other times it does not. When I use it in manual mode it is a really great lens but my problem is slightly blurry eyesight so the AF is really needed, I mess up too many shots in manual mode :-(

Thanks for your help,
Rex.

What about an old SMC Pentax-M 40/2.8 (pancake lens) for reverse macro setup ?

Wow amazing photos - So you are saying a standard lense attached in reverse by an adaptor can do that kind of macro? Amazing, much to learn :-)

Thank you again......... Customize them? Film reversal? I am going to dive deeper into that menu and have a play, I like bright colours in my photos but they usually come out quite dull so I need to do more experiments :-)

Thanks for your input.

Thanks very much, now I've found it - Never noticed it in the info menu before !! I have been playing with bracketing and raw format and then using Photoshop and/or Photomatix but I have to use the computer at work because my home laptop isn't too good any more. I'll try this new found option now and see what happens thanks, I still know nothing about that evasive "Align" setting though.

Cheers,
Rex.

HDR Questions

Hi,

As a newbie to HDR I would just like to ask a couple of quick questions please from those of you in the know.

HDR appears under the "Night Scene HDR" option - I assume this is what I use even in daylight as HDR itself is not purely a night time option.

Also I am advised to tick the "Align" option in the HDR settings. HDR Settings? What HDR Settings? The only time I ever see HDR is in the C2 menu and it is always grayed out but showing "Auto" when I am in Night Scene HDR of "Off" in any other mode.

Am I missing something please?

Cheers :-)
