Has anyone ordered the 15-30mm? It's still not listed on the website and I haven't heard any mention of if any were arriving with the K-1's. I probably can't afford it at full AU retail but I'd like to see a few in circulation and hopefully some price competition before too long.
My local B&M called to say that CRK have dispatched my K-1 and I "should" have it on Friday... can't wait.

Probably similar to overseas dealers. The first shipment will be here by end of month but has long since sold out. The main shipment for anyone who hasn't yet pre-ordered will be early May. Well, that's what I hope is going on, because I've been told 28th of this month for mine!

Just hassled my local camera store again and he called CRK today. The first shipment of K-1's are about 3 weeks away - and he confirmed my order will be among them ;) . The 15-30 will be arriving in the same shipment and my dealers price is around $2800 inc GST..... maybe a bit too much, would be a lot cheaper importing!

I paid my local camera store a visit today and while I was in store they called their rep at CRK to get the latest. The K-1 was just made available through their system yesterday (i.e. no dealer could place an order with CRK till yesterday). Currently they reckon that the first shipment will arrive in Australia very late in April with deliveries reaching customers first week of May. Still no shipping or price info on the 15-30mm.

Still absolutely no info in Aus on the 15-30mm or of any kit options. Hopefully after CP+ they'll get their act together!

My local camera store (and the sales guy who knows I really want the K-1) spoke to CRK who told them that they still haven't received direction from Ricoh Japan about RRP or release date but expect it in the next few days.

From the specs gleaned from the dials, buttons etc this will do everything I want. I now am no longer considering the A7RII and am willing to wait on this. All I need to know now are; 1. What sensor it has, and; 2. What is the retail price (possibly with the 24-70).
Bring it on.

Thanks for clarifying that but IMO, if someone assumes it's done in PP then they already don't know how the heck it was done, they're just more ignorant of that fact!

Hi cxdoo, I'd like to know what you mean about going crazy in PP as none of these pics (or any of my light painting) have any more PP than levels, NR and crop?

Been a while since I posted on here. Seems that there is not a great deal of light painting being posted and so far no images with the Pixelstick. I got my Pixelstick over a month ago and have still only really in the learning/experimenting stage. It offers a lot of possibilities and I have a lot of ideas I want to try with it but it definitely isn't the be all and end all of light painting.
Would love to hear your feedback.

I do a fair bit of Light painting and have a lot of custom made tools etc. but I often find the simpler methods work best. Old house lit across the front with a blue gelled flashlight, a pink gelled flash inside and a bare flashlight over the exterior.

Noooooooooo, was waiting for some money to transfer to my CC account to order it after I couldn't get it through my local camera store. Now I'll have to spend the difference on that Sirui T-025x that I want ;( :)

Got another call from my local camera store today. Apparently the Silver limited edition will only be available from the CRK web store and they will not allow it to be sold elsewhere :(
Sucks that I can't support my local store and now have to pay upfront.

Got a call from my local camera store today to confirm that they can get in the K-3 Silver limited edition for the same price as the website and that they'll have it for me in the first week of November :)
Now to sell some of my old gear to pay for it!

Both cameras are now listed as including an 8Gb Flucard.... awesome, now I don't need to chase one seperately.

Really great series and some stunning shots of the summit lake. Makes me miss Colorado a lot and want to get back there soon.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
There are a few different techniques here. The coloured surfaces are a done with cheap cokin coloured filters and a either a flash or high powered flash light to paint the surface. The multi-colour wavy lights are done with a LED Lenser V-24. The sparks are burning steel wool in an egg whisk on a length of wire to spin around and some magnesium strip thrown in for the white streaks. The spheres are a custom made tool that rotates and pivots with a colour changing light on the end.
All exposures are on a tripod, bulb mode and a cactus V5 for trigger release. I usually try to shoot with a full moon in order to get a better exposure for the scene.
Hopefully that's covered the basics. Googling for light painting techniques will give you a lot more info.
Cheers
Daniel
