Light polution filter for nocturnal cityscapes - any pointers for WB, PP, etc.?

OK, I am jealous now :)

I live south of DFW, so MW for me is directly above Dallas, so at best with filter I managed Astrometry.net and Astrometry.net (Astrometry.net) . Unfortunately, I am lacking with editing.... Not comparable with Stitched Milky Way 2015.08.20 - 2015.08.21 ( Evie ) - AstroBin I got without any filters from 4. As I did this with 50mm, I am wondering if to take the same 50mm, or 24 will be enough... (both F1.4, and I am taking other lenses as well).

Though I am jealous of lake property. BTW, I found that Clear Outside v1.0 - International Weather Forecasts For Astronomers also shows a Bortle number of the location, so it is quite useful.

I tried DSS, but definitely was not happy with it. It either did not give me good results, or gave me exceptions. There are lots of settings and they are way too difficult for me, as I am strictly hobyist. Also, the problem in this case was vigneting for different frames in panorama (I cannot darken them one by one, as then the final image is different shaded, and vignetting is not removed good when working with ETTR images)

Nothing too special, pulled out my Autorevuenon MC 135mm F2.8 to remember why I have it - I like it's bokeh, but it is not often used lens in my bag :/

Some time ago I even had a topic with different filters, diameters, prices, reviews - not sure where that topic had gone. Anyway, I found from the same article that Hoya Red Intensifier is one of the cheapest and works almost as well as Pure Night, which quite a bit more expensive. The only negative part - it comes to fixed diameters, so can be used only on matching or close sized lenses. So I bought a specific diameter filter and several rings (up or down). Did not have a chance to try them on normal sky, only on Bortle 8 towards Bortle 9 or so, so cannot comment a lot, but going to Bortle 4 sky where I got reasonably good Milky Way pics, so will see how it will go there. Deciding what lenses to take with me, though...

BTW, Amazon Hoya Red Intensifier comes from Adorama usually, and it is faster to buy from them directly. Would make some better samples, but it says cloudy in my astro weathercast.

A lot depends on LED spectrum. Here is an example of that LED streetlight conversion makes Tucson skies slightly darker, says Dark Sky Association | Local news | tucson.com

I have a simple Hoya Red Intensifier. It definitely cuts out sodium lights skyglow (as most of Light Pollution filters), I even managed to get a bit of Milky Way above the most polluted point (though I have issues stacking it nicely, but it is my problem, not filter problem).

There are some samples No Filter - 1 filter in my Albums.

I have 7 primes, 3 of them are AF, but Tamron 90mm is slow af in AF. And as that was my totally first Rodeo, I had no idea what I will need, where will I sit, and anyway - for me quality is enough. I am not a pro and I am not trying to be. Did some experimentation, turned down ISO after that (I did use TAv mode), so, it is all a good lesson.

Ooooh, sounds like "fun" :)

OK, in that case I take an astro-modded K-1, Sigma 18-300 lens, Camera RAW (if Camera RAW is an integral part of Photoshop, then Photoshop), DCR250 and filters set (including astrofilters especially and the one that gets the view back to non-moded). Not sure about the book though - maybe a very very good and easy one about postprocessing astro images using the above-mentioned app?

Debated a lot on lens and camera. K-1 - in case I want to do astrotracing without equatorial mount, and it saves me one accessory, but better work with noise than K-3II. Lens - I thought about taking a brighter one, but all of them either short or long, and either I would need to build panorama of MW from small pieces, or loose the long end. And even if it pains me to get it not fully FF compatible... oh well. Another idea - taking Bigma. 50-500, good for astro, and I could do panoramas from 50mm... I really really want two lenses.

As far as I know, only K-30 and K-50. Other models has other issues, but none so widely spread (or at least I don't know it). I now bought KP and planning to send K-30 for repairs (interested if they accept not posted, but directly brought camera? I have someone who could bring them directly).

Actually, for Astro I have Rok 10mm F2.8, Bower 24mm F1.4, Sigma 50mm F1.4 and a bunch of darker lenses (I used Bigma in Bortle 4 location, on 500mm with astrotracer and on 50mm with astrotracer). Now I am on Bortle 8. XS for me just because it is a very small lens, good for travels. Hope to get to Bortle 4 location again next week (taking only XS, 10mm and 18-135wr with me, because flight)

/OK, ending OT.

I live in DFW (South of Dallas... MW is directly over most light polluted side for me), and I managed to take some MW shots with it (not the best, of course, but oh well...). Though now I like that clearoutside.com shows Bortle scale for your location (easier to know darkness level).

My other two most recent acquisitions before KP were second hand Pentax XS 40mm, and second hand Rokinon 10mm F2.8 - cannot wait to use this for astro, though problem with filters.

As a girl I would recommend to get your wife addicted to various beauty (or other sample) boxes: they are not that expensive, but she will be getting packages constantly, so will ignore yours :D

70-200 F2.8. So far have Sigma 70-300 APO and Bigma, so that covers the range, but still it is a dream.
Another would be 100mm WR. Though while I don't have it, still doubt between it and Sigma 105mm Macro (especially, as one 105mm is for sale on KEH now, for Pentax mount... but because K-30 shown the aperture, had to buy KP, and no money for the lens... again).

Anyway, these two were my dream lenses always.

Oh yeah, it has bulk and weight... camera is only an attachment to it (I got it second hand for good price)

Link for that CA guy? I am not planning to repair now (spent money for KP), but it would be nice in the future. P.S. My camera bought in Europe ~5 years ago, so no chance with US official repairs.

KP Grips

For me it is easier to change a grip, though, than my long time behavior (all* my cameras were with deeper grip for easy counterbalance and I am used to using them one handed in a pinch).

* - I do not count pre-digital no zoom/no lens soapbox shaped simple plastic compact film camera as a full camera.

Ok, latest acquisition... not photo device, but for photos - a new laptop, because the old one was constantly choking with PS and astrophotos blending and merging... still paying for this, though, but should last quite a bit. 32GB RAM instead of 8GB, and 15.6" IPS screen instead of 13.3.

K-30 with Pentax WR 18-135 and Autorevuenon MC 50mm F1.7, and one photo +Raynox DCR-250
While I like both lenses, Autorevuenon gives more "artsy" feeling. Went out during lunch break today while the wildflowers are still up. Way too hot to go there everyday...
