Heavy rain and thunder forecast today so I went out in search of dramatic clouds in the distance but ended up in the middle of it all and got thoroughly soaked, so did this little guy.

Some good old fog for yesterdays walk, the first one I tried to keep more natural and subdued but went a bit dark and mystical with the second

This particular lone tree has been one of those subjects that always draws me in but as yet I had struggled to get a decent result from it, yesterdays heavy snowfall and a high key treatment has I think, got me there.

Taking a few photos in the garden just now, I always have a helper close at hand.

Something I had been meaning to do for a while now is take a trip out to the coast, finally made it on Friday and caught a glorious sunset too. This is taken from the dunes on Lifeboat Beach at the Formby National Trust site.

I have played around with that technique of simply holding a lens to the camera using an old projector lens. I used a extension tube mounted on the camera rather than risk hitting anything sensitive inside the mount. Its good fun to experiment with tilting and shifting and of course letting light leaks in.
Few examples

For Cindy, my method of using a filter with a pinhole.
So its made up of a bodycap for the Sony E mount, then attached to that simply using tape is the threaded part of a collapsible rubber hood (a 58mm version of one of these things ). Few quick and dirty pictures to show you the idea.
The metal pinhole simply gets taped to the middle section over the hole. Its rough and ready but gets the job done.

Attachment 563605

Hope this is enough to give you the general idea and allows you to sort something out for yourself.

I have gone a step further in mine when I realised by removing the middle section and placing it further back closer to the sensor I could get roughly an 11mm focal length, I have just recently modified that a bit to allow to me to move that about at will. There is foam glued to the edge of the hole and the centre section is simply a tight friction fit inside.

Just been looking back at some from a few weeks ago, I think this one portrays the bleakness of a rainy day in the Peak District quite well.
