FYI: Applying AI noise reduction to K-3 III raw files

We actually don't know the details of what any of them are doing. They don't disclose it. All we have are results and almost universally users and spec-blogs seem to be pretty happy with them.

Regarding the K3III, I also only shoot raw as you do, only a handful of JPEGS in the years I've owned Pentax cameras with image accelerators, the K-70, KP and K3III. I've yet to identify any negative effect on photos so until I do it's not anything I have the least amount of concern over. My typical processing programs work fine with them, including denoising if needed. DxO I've been a bit less pleased with lately, but that's mostly due to support issues that I suspect will not be addressed. I'm slowly gravitating towards On1 instead of DxO which I used to heavily lean on.

How many years and millions of Fuji cameras did it take to finally convince DxO they should dedicate a little time to supporting them? I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to get around to this one. Best option is learning to get the most out of other very good programs that will process our K3III files across all ISO's more reliably. DxO DeepPrime in general stills works fine with my camera AFAICT, but I don't use XD, nor do I even use DeepPrime as often as I once did.

Yes, I did PP, including adding sharpness. The lens, as I've written, is only "moderately" sharp at 300mm (at least compared to lenses like the DA* 300). In my experinece, the real difference between the DA* 300 and the 55-300 PLM @ 300mm is the PLM doesn't do as well when you crop. You can do a 50% crop with the DA* lens and still get tack sharp 20 inch print. That's more chellenging with the PLM—at least in my experience. So when I do use 300mm on the PLM, if I can't more or less fill the frame, I rarely take the shot. It also helps to keep the ISO down, because that allows for more sharpening in post. And a shutter of speed of 1/250 sec or greater is helpful as well. Here's another 300mm shot from the lens:

Game changing, I don't think so. There are lots of small differences but I don't think I've had the camera long enough to add them up yet. I would say at this point that the smaller, lighter, simpler is my main reason for switching. Over time I may come to view that differently but at the moment, no game changing difference.

Collection of green ant images showing behaviour and habits. These were all on the *istDL2 and K20 with macro Takumar 50mm or FA35-70

Shots show collection of insect cadavers and returning them to their nests, cropping of leaf aphids, and inter species war as they attack and kill members of a rival nest of 'meat ants'

A couple I have posed before in other threads - apologies.

I actually like it better than the rest. Well done! I tend to find that processing a photo in a different way can often lead to exciting and more interesting results.

Superb!

I've recently (Christmas...) got a DA 50-200 WR. Here's a lorikeet I x-posted to the K-30 thread:

And here, it withstood a huge crop, and shooting a small subject against a brightish sky, well enough that I could identify the bird (a square-tailed kite):

Oh, and I was surprised at how well the DA50-200 allowed me to capture this ugly little critter:
