Where can I find some HELP,......

Hi Adam,

I just tried to log on with my new "Reset Password" and got the same log on error message as before, I went into my email and copied the New Password and then pasted it into the log on password box and finally was able to log on, it seems that my new password was not reset at all and I have no idea why the old password would not work as it had been working just fine.

I have I don't know how many passwords saved in my computer and the only one I seem to having a problem with is this Pentax Forum log on so I'm pretty sure it's not my machine causing it.

Thanks for the help but if getting here is going to be such a PITA, then I'd rather be someplace else, so far I've found this site not very user friendly at all.

This is a screenshot of the Error Message that I keep getting when I go directly to the Pentax Forum site and try to log on,...........

If I have to reset my password every time I want to check out whats going on on this forum I'm just not going to do it because it's just to frustrating going through the process !

Thanks ChristianRock,

Shooting in JPEG is fine with me for the time being, if I decide to shoot in RAW I'll just have to put up with using the Pentax Software Utility #4 to download them to the computer, once in the computer I can use any of my programs to edit them, it's just getting them there that's a PITA.

You are probably right alenox3, things where a lot simpler using a Canon but I do remember a time when I though I'd never figure out how to use one of those, I guess I'll stumble along and find my way using this Pentax Kr, even if it does hurt my little brain right now. :D

Thanks for the encouragement, happy shooting to ya.

Alright, mode problem solved after some head banging against the wall.

Both my Takumar and Quantaray auto focus lenses have f/ rings on the bottom of the lenses to set f#, there is also an "A" lock position on these rings,.... evidently in removing the lenses from the camera I accidentally turned the rings off the "A" lock position,.... this is what was confusing the camera and it would only work in M, AV and Movie modes,... since I put the f/ rings back in the "A" lock position the camera now works perfectly in all modes_case closed.

Yes, I've tried resetting with no results.

---------- Post added 11-02-14 at 03:53 PM ----------

Well, now maybe your onto something here, I tried changing the lens I had been using yesterday that was still on the camera, a 28-80mm Quantaray auto focus, I put the 18-55mm kit lens that came with the camera back on it and magically all of the shooting modes returned to normal.

That said, I have no idea of why the shooting modes will no longer work with the Quantaray lens as they worked perfectly well yesterday when I was out shooting photos, I also checked to see how a 70-200mm auto focus Takamura lens that I also have used on this camera would work and I found that the modes are acting the same as with the Quantaray, the only modes I can dial into are the M,AV and Movie, this is really weird because this non-functioning of the modes only started happening today.

It's got to be something in the settings but I just haven't got a clue what it could be being new to Pentax cameras, I've never encountered anything like this before and I'm just at a loss to figure it out, thus the plea for help here.

It's the new guy, back again for some much needed help.

Seems that overnight while setting on my gear bench, my Pentax Kr decided that today it would not work in any mode other than M, AV and Movie mode,.... it was fine yesterday, it worked in every mode the dial was set to,.. so, today I picked it up, turned it on to use it and set the dial to Macro and only got the AV mode,.. I fiddled around with it for about an hour and got nowhere, can't get it to work an any setting other than M, AV or Movie mode,.. anyone know what's going on with this thing or is me not doing something right ?

I'll tell ya, I just got this camera and I'm already thinking about going back to a Canon model because this Kr is so frustrating to figure out. :o

Thanks

Hi Mark,

As I've stated in my prior post, I can not download ANY RAW photos from my Pentax Kr camera by means of a USB cable or memory card no matter what program I'm using. (note: I do not use Photoshop)

The ONLY way that I've found to download RAW photos is by using the "Pentax Software Utility #4" that came with the camera, that works but it's a PITA to use.

I changed the setting in camera and switched from shooting RAW to shooting JPEG and now I have no problem downloading photos from the Camera via USB or memory card to PC using any program of my choice, so, as long as I shoot in JPEG format I guess my problem is solved.

Thanks,
Lou.

Thanks for the welcome guys / gals, if there are any here in the forum, for those interested in my photos you can view my photostream on Flickr at,........ https://www.flickr.com/photos/21043193@N06/

I mostly shoot nature and whats around me in my local environment.

Just a note on the downloading problem I was having with the Pentax Kr, I resolved it by switching from RAW to JPEG, now no problem downloading photos from Camera or memory card to PC, however if I want to shoot RAW and download RAW to my PC I have to use the Pentax software utility that came with the camera to do it as nothing else will work.

Pentax Kr will not download photos,

Firstly, thanks everyone for the feedback and help.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4 software and had another go at downloading the photos, after some fiddling around with the Utility I was able to download the photos that I had taken earlier today, still found it quite a process from the normal way I download photos from cameras, which straight forward and much easier that this convoluted method.

The good news is that I found a way to download the photos via either the USB cable direct or SD card reader, I still don't know why I can not download the photos as I normally would, just doesn't make sense at all.

Well, I guess I'll just have to hike up the learning curve and deal with it, I'm not exactly a novice when it comes to DSLR'S, this Pentax Kr makes # 7 for me but it is my first Pentax and obviously, I have a great deal to learn about how they function.

Again, thanks for the help, I appreciate your time.

Lou.

Pentax Kr will not download photos,

Hi all, I just got a sweet Pentax Kr that was owned by just one person before me and it was treated very well, the camera seems to work just fine, everything checks out ok, I took some test shots with it today and they look great in-camera but when I tried to download then to my PC the photos just will not download no matter how or by what means I tried, be it a card reader (I tried the one that came with the camera, a Transcend 3.0) , I tried my own card (Targas) multi reader that I've used with my Cannon, Olympus, Sony and my wife's camera's, all of which have downloaded flawlessly. When I could not download the photos via any card reader I tried using just the USB cable hooked up direct to the camera and computer, this also failed to download the photos.

I've never had an issue downloading photos from any camera to my computer before this, this Pentax Kr really has me scratching my head and I'm at my whits end trying to figure out what the problem is, so that's what brought me to this forum, I figure that there has to be someone here who has run into this problem in the past and knows how to remedy it.

Thanks up front for any and all help with this photo download issue I'm having.

Lou.

Hi all Pentax users,

I'm Lou from up here in the Maine woods and Yes, I'm a NUBIE to this forum and also using a Pentax Kr camera, that is if I can get it to download the photos I've tried to take with it in testing, but that's for another thread, basically I just wanted to shout out hello to everyone and maybe get some one to point me in the right direction to get some help with this download problem I'm having.

Thanks up front,

Lou. :)
