That's just the ROI on that one camera, total income over the years is much more. I did it as a Real Estate Photographer. ---------- Post added 11-20-22 at 10:43 AM ----------
I have a DA 12-24 but I didn't want to wear it out, LOL ---------- Post added 11-20-22 at 10:46 AM ----------
That's why I posted, "the last photo was as good as the first." I remember, at first, being concerned about wearing out my cameras.
Everyone needs to just shoot and enjoy!

More fun facts:
I made about $400,000 with the camera that failed, and I bought it used for $350 with 3,400 clicks on it; pretty good return!
The last photo it ever took was as good as the first photo it ever took.

Some people care about shutter click count; they post how many "clicks" their camera has, etc.
I'm a professional real estate photographer and have done about 12,000 photoshoots since 2009, cycling out camera bodies after about 100,000 clicks.
Last year, I decided to keep using my latest camera with a backup body and lens in my camera case.
This week, it completely failed; shutter count? 318,231 I wasn't even bothered by it since it lasted so long.
I grabbed my backup with about 135,000 clicks on it and kept going.
Both are K50s using a Sigma 10-20mm lens.
The lens I was using probably has around a million clicks on it!

I'm a Real Estate Photographer doing 80 to 100 shoots per month. I'm managing it all ok, but I need something that saves time and offers more value, like flyers, client self-scheduling, order, property sites, outsourced editing, etc.
I've been looking at "Full Frame Systems," and they seem pretty good, but I'm wondering what everyone else out there is using? I can't find much else; I'm also a web developer but didn't want to re-invent the wheel.

I have a K-50 underexposing, I am quite sure the aperture actuator or system is malfunctioning...
I assume it has to be sent to Pentax/Ricoh, long wait etc. Financially speaking, is it worth fixing?

What would be the symptoms of a lens that has a lot of use on it?
Like one that has been used to take over 200,00 photos?
We are talking about a wide Sigma zoom auto focus lens.

I am a Real Estate photographer and shoot about 100,000 photos a year, so I go through a lot of cameras, a few weeks ago, this one fell over while on a tripod and hit a carpeted floor. I thought nothing of it at the time because it still functioned perfectly. But I guess that is how it happened since all the other cameras I have ever used have never cracked like this. I have retired this one and will either fix the base or just have it for non-tripod use.

I have a K50 with a cracked base where the tripod hole is. I need to replace the base. Where can I order this part and replace it myself?

I understand having using a radio setup and remote flash is better.... but being able to simply flip open my flash and hold my flash unit at arms length pointed at the ceiling makes for some very nice photos at a birthday party or similar event... without all the fuss and setup... I really hate to lose this feature... I guess one of my K-50's or my K-5IIs will always stay with me for this purpose!

I didn't yet realize the K-1 had no on-board flash... my focus was more on the K-70...
Not a problem other than I hate it is now a necessity!

I noticed in the user manuals for the K-1 and K-70, there is no option for wireless flash mode. The camera flash can no longer be a wireless flash controller.... WHY!??? I love this feature...
Does anyone else hate to see this go? I guess I will have to buy radio flash units like all the canikon folks...

I cannot think of a brand that is more of an "underdog" than Pentax.
It is the only equipment type where there is a brand I am completely loyal to...
Guns, TVs, Automatic butt scratchers... whatever works best.....

I have not done any comparative tests but I do know how my Wasabi batteries have performed...
I shoot Real Estate, at least 300 shutter actuation's per day, and about 10 minutes of video with a K-50 now, was using a K-30.
I have been using a set of Wasabi batteries for about two years now. They last several days before a charge is needed and battery life has not degraded over time.
I don't run them until the camera shuts down or anything, I just charge them when they appear low. I figure they are so cheap why worry with proper conditioning, etc.
Interesting note: I thought my batteries were degrading but found out when I bought a new camera that my older K-30 with 60,000 actuations was the culprit. It works perfectly but now requires more power to run it....

I need a flip out LCD.... ---------- Post added 06-24-15 at 09:26 PM ----------
Actually this would be great, bracketing with IR remote would be ideal !
This sounds promising.... too bad Ricoh's online manual link for the KS-2 is dead! I'll keep looking for it...
(EDIT: Found it here on the forum, in the camera review section)
It appears to exactly that, bracketing with IR remote....
This is great... further explanation.
I need to take photos from a lower angle and since I am 6'4", squatting to compose each shot would not be very good for my back.... hence the need for a flip-out LCD....
Having an IR remote will let me get out of the shot easier when there are too many mirrors in the room also! (I do mostly Real Estate Photography)

I have just discovered a need to have a tilt-LCD camera but I also need a remote shutter release since I shoot all bracketed shots on a tripod.
The KS-1 allowed only one mode with an IR remote (bracketing not available using IR remote) is the KS-2 like this also?
It really sucks they dropped this feature AGAIN !!! I thought we were past this little issue since they added it back since on the K-30....

Battery was good, I think I am one firmware version off, will update...
I will also try the contacts because it seems to be OK while there is no lens attached. ---------- Post added 06-09-15 at 01:51 PM ----------
I will try suggestions to get it fixed (it is no longer under warranty) and put it back into action but I did also go ahead and order a new K-50 last night... (B&H for $307 with free SD card)...
Will get this one fixed and make it my backup and give my other backup camera to one of the kids...

I shoot Real Estate photography, my original K-30 went 60,000 actuations without an issue and is still working fine as my backup camera. My newer K-30 just failed with 9,000 actuations.
I was shooting bracketed shots today, all three shots turned out fine but the mirror seemed to clack more times than it should and seems to have stuck in approximately mid position. I took the lens off then back on and it worked a few more times then failed again. I swapped lenses with my old K-30 and the problem still persists so I am quite sure it is the body.
So, I have NEVER had a Pentax failure before! I guess I need to send this one in for repair... any tips for a first timer in this area? Do I need to figure out precisely what is wrong first? or just send it in and hope for the best?

I shoot a lot of Real Estate photography and do bracketing 100% of the time.
I stopped using a flash for this about 2 years ago and tried just single shots on a tripod but found bracketed shots gave a much more realistic look.
Do I need bracketing on every shot? probably not... but I have an automated post processing routine so its just as easy to do bracketing as it is single,
actually easier because I don't have to separate my shots beforehand.
