Hi, I just recieved my alienbees B1600. I do not see anywhere on my K50 where I can connect the sync. Is there a port for the sync cord on this camera or do I need to purchase the hot shoe adapter?

Im looking to upgrade from a K-50. I shoot a lot of sports. Have you used any 70-200 2.8 lens's on this camera ? How well does it perform in low light?

So glad I came upon this thread..... My dilemma, I recently purchased the tamron 70-200 2.8. Mainly for shooting a lot of HS sports. I work in the school and do all the sports photography. I had read a lot of mixed reviews about this lens not having the best auto focus for fast action sports. I choose to buy it and test it out within the 30 day return period being that choices for a sports lens for pentax is so limited :( I shot a FB game(sunny day) and was ecstatic with the images !! But then to my great disappointment ...... I shot an indoor volleyball game and the pictures were awful it was taking a long time to focus and I had more blur than not :( I saw one of the first posts in this thread where it was stated that a night time football game was shot with great results.... I am so frustrated I love my camera and the results that I get. But after this outing I have been considering get a 2nd camera (canon where I have more lens options) I have a K50, th could I have done something wrong when shooting indoors? should I have been able to get good results with this lens and my camera? Having some hope that a new camera is not the route I need to take. Or do I need to upgrade my camera body
Any advice is so greatly appreciated !!! One other thing, I was considering was ordering the Pentax 70-200. But I am so on the fence due to the size, weight and price. And cant find much feedback on it.

Hi, Thank you both for your quick replies, when you say "clutch" are you referring to the ring on the barrel that shifts up and down or maybe I should say back and forth to go from manual to AF? If so yes that is set in auto focus. Or is there some other function to put it into auto focus that I am not aware of? How do I know if the firmware needs to be updated? I am not using LV only viewfinder so that would not be an issue. I am so bummed I was hoping to try and use it tonight to shoot Senior night at our last FB game for the season ;(

Hi, I just purchased the Tamron 70-200. When I put it on my K50 it is not working properly. It doesn't seem to focus. My camera basically locked up none of my camera controls are working with it on. I can't even turn the camera off unless I remove the battery. Am I missing something here. My other question is that I purchased this lens to use for fast action sports. I read a lot of reviews on here before ordering but after placing my order I found alot of reviews from other sites saying that this is a very poor lens for action sports. The pentax is so much more money I wanted to give this one a shot anyways (if I can get it to work :( ) Any advice, and or opinions on the lens itself would be greatly appreciated. I mostly shot HS football, Lax and Volleyball.

Hi, I just purchased a Samyang 85mm for my K50!! Looking forward to learning more about using this lens here :D One question I have is about the aperture ring, When reading the very limited manual that came with the lense the instructions said to use AV with the switch on MF. I did that I was also watching some of the Youtube videos. Am I correct in assuming that you don't use the manual aperture ring on the lens? That it is done automatically with camera's dials. When I did try switching out of the "A" mode on the lens ring I get the " F-- error "

Hi, Can I put the tamaron 70-200 on my K 50. I currently have the DA 18-135, DA 55-300, 50mm 1.8 and sigma 17-70 2.8. Sometimes I feel like I dont get those real sharp crisp images with all my pictures. Should I be able to get them all the time with the lens collection that I have, is it that I am not always use the correct settings. Or do I need a better lense ? Or do I need to upgrade my camera body?

Hi Jatrax, Thanks for your response, Ok.... Im not sure when to even begin. I have the "free" flash that came with camera the Pentax Af-200FG. I am still in the learning phase. I took a couple of beginner classes and try to watch a lot of tutorials. AND Shoot alot. I have just recently been asked to do a few paid jobs from people who have seen my work on my FB page. A sweet 16 party and a 25th wedding Anniversary photo shoot. I get together with ppl that I met in my the first class. We have a professional photographer that gets together with us. If I ask about buying equipment he usually advises to buy better now instead of replacing later. But he is talking BIG BUCKS! Which I am not really in a position to do right now. I have done outdoor portrait shoots. So....What I am trying to achieve right now is to get a better quality flash that has tilt so I can bounce light and use as a wireless flash. And I would like to have some type of set up such as: umbrella/softbox with back drop and external flash to do portraits. Something just to get me started that doesn't cost a ton of money. I hope this helps with some of your questions. I also had the Yong Nuo recommended but from the research I did it seems that it wont communicate with the camera with the hot shoe, only wirelessly... I am so overwhelmed with the all the info I am getting as I try to research and make an educated decision. Hopefully I can get the advice I need here

Hi, I watched a supposedly "LIVE" webinar on lightroom shortcuts by Cole Joseph. At the end of course you are prompted to purchase a set of presets for Lightroom.. I was very tempted but leary. Just wondering if any one has purchased or heard any feedback on this.Thanks in advance!

HELP !! I apologize, I know Back Button Focus has been widely discussed in other threads. I have spent hours reading them and am so confused. I can't seem to find exact details on setting it up on my camera (K-50) and then understanding exactly how to use those buttons while shooting. If someone would be so kind as to give me a detailed tutorial on how to set it up I would be soooo greatly appreciative :D

Sorry I should have included my camera model😁 I have a K-50. The 16 I have now is 40mb's the 8 is 30. I am look for more capacity because I would like to start shooting more RAW. And I really don't shoot much video at all.

Hi, can anyone advise me on the difference between the different types of SD cards, I presently have an ultra plus 16 GB and an Extreme HD Video 8 GB. I originally bought these cards for shooting sports (not that I can say I knew they were the right choice for that kind of photography either lol) My kids have since graduated HS and I will be shooting more stills and portrait. I am going to be shooting my sisters wedding next month. I would like to get a larger memory card any suggestions?

Ok good news !! Although I am still going to check out the venue. My sister showed my pictures on line.
1- The ceremony will be outdoors :D and if it rains there is a beautiful canopy covering.
2- There are big long windows inside.
3- And most importantly..... I was just so nervous about the lighting I totally forgot to keep in mind that it is a DAYTIME wedding !!! Starts at noon..
4- Pray for a beautiful day for me please :D
