Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is a most useful response, I have been searching for a solution to this problem of flash compatibility. I own several flash units like the Sunpak 544, SUnpak 3600 and a Vivitar 285 HV. I also own several film bodies like a Spotmatic, Spotmatic F, KM, KX (my favorite) MX, LX, P3, and several other bodies that do not work (for display), I Also own a K100, K20 and a KS2 (my favorite DSLR). As you can see, I do not want to renounce to my vintage potato mashers which are very easy to use. I also own an AF500FTZ and need to find out which of my DSLRs can use it.

All ILC are doomed, the question is, who's next, who goes last. There were so many brands in the 70s, gone now. All empires die. I'll keep my Pentaxes though.

Most people assume that latest and expensive gear is always better for taking stunning photos, but those photographers that can master the M setting have a wider world at their fingertips. Sometimes I build lenses out of magnifying lenses and PVC pipes to get a soft focus tele portrait lens effect. I use cheap extension tubes and close-up lenses instead of macro lenses to extend and complement my camera’s capabilities. Also, there are many pre-set lenses out there with well proven glass formulas that will yield sharpness levels equal or better than current expensive lenses at a very low price. Anyone can press the shutter release on an auto-everything camera, but the M setting is for Masters.
