Item for Sale
Pentax DA* 50-135 f/2.8 $625 - With Warranty

Asking Price
$625

Item Location
Raleigh, NC

Item Description
There are some updates since my last post, including a $75 price reduction. Please read.

Pentax DA* 50-135mm lens in great condition. The glass is absolutely perfect and has always been protected by a filter.
There is a 1/4 inch part of the plastic where the lens hood connects that is damaged(see photo). It has no effect on the lens at all, and the hood still fastens securely. There are a few other very minor scuffs on the plastic of the lens that are unnoticeable.

The mount and glass are PERFECT. The hood is brand new, because I got a new one to replace the one I had lost the filter insert to.

This lens is a few years old, but I have shot less than 1000 shots thru it.

$625 + $20 S&H. Shipped via Fedex fully insured.
This is ridiculously cheap, but I need the money. I love this lens, but I just bought a Mercedes roadster and my bank account could use some stimulus.

As some of you know I work for Pentax and have done so for 5 years, so despite my low number of posts I am completely reliable(I would be happy to prove this). I also have 100% feedback on eBay (eBay My World - dgb2k)

In addition to the very reasonable price, I am going to offer a 3 month personal warranty on this lens. If it breaks within 3 months, without you physically abusing it, I will pay for the repair of the lens. This is my way of assuring you that you will have no problems with the lens.

This is a great lens, if you still have any doubts, send me a PM, and I am sure I can put your mind at ease.

I will take PayPal or a Personal Check for payment. USA ONLY.

Thanks,
Dorian Black

I work for Pentax customer service.
I have read the hour of chat transcript you had with our rep. We record all calls and chats.
Our rep did her best to help you.

I am sorry that the camera is not working correctly, but there is nothing we can do beyond what we offered you on chat.

It is not humanly possible for us to get the camera from Houston to Arizona, examine it, diagnose the problem, fix the problem, test it for several days since it is an intermittent problem, and then send it back to Houston all in less than one week.

If you decide to send the camera in to us, we will do our best to have it repaired as expeditiously as possible.

How weatherproof is the K-7?

I wouldn't recommend it, but I have used a garden hose to clean my K20D many times, after covering it with mud and paintballs.
The weatherproofing on the K10/20/7 is very good.

I don't think that is a fair assessment. I don't think OP tried either of those methods, nor did either of the people I PMed from what I could gather from this thread.
I am not blaming the victim here, I am just saying those methods DO WORK, you just have to try them.

I don't think we plan to make any official response through the forums.
That said, I will be happy to try to respond to anyone who wants to PM me here. I only ask that you try our phone or chat support first.
If they let you down, feel free to let me know, and I will resolve the situation.

I can see how that would be offensive, even if he probably meant it as a joke.

This really is a sign of him just having a lot on his plate, not him being arrogant.

Calling our customer service at 800-877-0155 is the best way to resolve any problems you are having.

Hello, my name is Dorian and I work for Pentax Customer Service.

I just called Helen, trying to resolve this situation, but unfortunately, she did not have Mel's contact information, so I have sent an email through this site to Mel. I hope she will contact me back, because I would certainly like to make her feel better about the situation.

Our average response time for emails is 16 hours, so if someone has written an email to us and not gotten a response, it means it probably went into a spam folder on our end or their end. Spam filters are not perfect and we certainly do apologize if we have not responded to anyone, but it definitely was not our intent.
We are also available on the phones Monday-Friday 9:30AM-6:30PM EDT, at 1-800-877-0155, our average response time is less than a minute and we are happy to do whatever we can to help. As I am writing this email, I see that our phone response time is 29 seconds today!

As for this specific situation. If we were emailed about a K7 manual, we would reply. Since Mel never got our reply, either we did not get her email, or she did not get ours.
It sounds like she then contacted our literature request line and left her information to receive a K7 manual. This means that we will be sending a K7 manual as soon as one is available.
Unfortunately, K7 replacement manuals are simply not available yet, which means that it may be a while until one is sent out.

Phone or chat is the best way to get an instant response to any questions you have, and our email response time is pretty decent. If you need help, just contact us, we really are here to help.

I think there is a misconception in this thread that we do not care.
That simply is not the case.

I will scan this thread for the next few days and be happy to respond to anyone, but I do not regularly check this forum, so calling us really is the best option if there is a problem.

P.S.
wildlifephotog: I PMed you my contact info.
seacapt: I PMed you a potential resolution and my contact info.

P.P.S.
John C. is about as far from arrogant as you can get. Seriously, he is one the nicest guys I have delt with.

That is correct.

A little history just for fun.

PENTAX started out as the Asahi Optical Company (AOC) In 1919.
Through the 1930’s AOC was a leading lens manufacturer for Japanese camera and optical instrument manufacturers, thanks to the company’s superb lens polishing skills.
In 1952 Asahi Optical Company introduced the world’s first 35mm single lens reflex camera – the Asahiflex I.
In 1954 the Asahiflex II camera is introduced which incorporates the world’s first instant return mirror system. This system solved the problem of viewfinder blackout and paved the way for major progress in SLR camera development.
In 1957 Asahi Optical Company introduced one of the first SLR cameras to incorporate a pentaprism viewfinder for upright eye-level and laterally correct viewing and framing. This camera was called the “Asahi PENTAX” and the name “PENTAX” was born.
The name PENTAX comes from two words:
PENTAprism and refleX mirror = PENTAX
In 2002 Asahi Optical Company, officially changes its name to PENTAX CORPORATION.

Need Advice: Published Photographs, no credit
Posted By dorianb

Three of my photographs were published in a nationally distributed magazine.

I was asked if the photos could be published and told (in writing) that I would be given a photo credit.

I received no payment for the photographs, so the joy of this was supposed to be having my name in print, and being able to show it to friends and family.
I got my copy of the magazine last night and do not see any photo credit.

I am being told that I was supposed to be credited and they are sorry that I did not get a credit.

This is all new to me and I am not sure how I should react to this.
I would appreciate any advice.
