I paid the equivalent of US$365 for my 31mm recently from a pawn shop, it is MIJ and in excellent condition. While it's one of my sought-after lenses I wouldn't pay full price for a new copy. The MPB listing looks quite bad and not worth the price.

I have this lens EX DG, not OS HSM or macro version. It behaves erratically in any of the priority modes on my K1 (with latest firmware), the pictures would come out underexposed. I have to use it in M mode with the aperture ring. I believe the communication with the lens when the picture is taken is inconsistent with each shutter press. The exposure info on the screen is correct, I used the same exposure settings in M mode and the picture comes out correct, but not the resulting picture. The problem would occur after the
The AF is fine and it's a very good lens optically.
The irony is the lens works without any issue on my K50 on all modes. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes, I tried this lens with my 4-year old twins athletics. Definitely not recommended. However, i mistakenly used the DA*55 and it was OK, the DFA*50 would have no problems I would imagine.
I use my K1 90% of the time since 2016 shooting my kids, sports and all sorts, using the DFA 28-105. My only complaint is the small buffer not the AFC.

Funny, I always thought Panasonic is a natural partner/owner for Pentax, especially if Panasonic is serious about FF and MF. It doesn't make business sense to have all their eggs in one M43 basket. Their SL mount partnership with Leica is not comparable as its not targeted for the mainstream FF market. I do hope you are right.

Very nice shot with no people in it. Very sharp for a vintage lens.

Outstanding f1.4 images guys, keep 'em coming. Very very sharp. Whats the flare like shooting into the sun, and what about the sunstars?

To my eyes the pictures showed the DFA is sharper, rounder bokeh balls and generally better bokeh. Vignetting is more noticeable on the DA*55 but thats understandable since its a APS-C lens. I have this lens on my K1 and generally shoot at F2 or smaller aperture for better sharpness and DOF. My only main complaint is the slow AF.

This shows Ricoh should hurry up and release the DFA85 for portrait shooters. Spectacular.

Thanks for the effort. the new DFA is definitely sharper and has smoother bokeh, also more corrected but the FA is no slouch in this test. Is there some slight vignetting @f1.4 from both lenses?

Marketing is not the end all and be all of a successful product or company. Just because you have created a new shiny thing, it doesn't mean you need to spend $$$ to tell as many people as you can about it. There are great examples of successful products and companies that spend very little on marketing.

Not only its a good performer optically, good focal range, WR, low cost, but also there aren't many other options of modern glass for FF at this price point. This is my main lens, along with DA*55 prime for travelling.

I meant that a lot of companies are not very truthful when it comes to their press releases, this is a general statement and not specific to Ricoh. I can't help but having a small, not very big, negative interpretation because the DFA*50 has been delayed before, along with the DA*11-18, and other products.

I'd recommend the DFA 28-105mm, its an excellent performer, light and has WR. Use your 12-24, which is usable from 20mm from PF member's reports, for wider.

Awesome picture. May i ask which ND10 filter you used on the DFA28-105? I am researching for a decent kit of filters at the moment. Thanks.
