Hello,
I have the same problem (splash window for a few seconds then nothing ) on a laptop asus aspire V3 771 G Windows 8.1 .
I have try all the tricks written here, plus a change in the language installation (English instead of french)
An update with the last version of the software (5.2.1) didn't change anything .

I've been a reader of this forum since a long time as an owner off a K10, then K5 and finally K3.
Sadly my talents as a photographer didn’t' follow the same ascending slope ...
Have so much to learn from all the posts here! Keep up the good work.
