I'd be interested in the 01 on it's own, if you'd be willing. I'm about to buy a Q7 and would love to have the prime lens. Also, you said paypal only. out of principle, I don't use paypal. If you would take google wallet or money order, I'd be happy to do that. Let me know if you're interested in that and I'll PM you.

Hey, I'm interested in making an offer on the whole package. I was unable to access my old account, apparently I never verified my email back in 2009 - you'll see my buying reputation and stuff and some old forum activity under user ColonelPanic. I'll PM you for the details, but I live in RI, not too horribly far, so depending on where you are in NH, I might be able to pick up and avoid shipping for you. Thanks!

Why did YOU Choose Pentax?

I did by accident. Got my first body, a K100D on sellout.woot.com for cheap, refurbished. Did some research before clicking the buy button, and I couldn't find any reason not to. More importantly I couldn't find any reason to pay the canon and nikon price premium when Pentax offered more features at a lower price point-as well as superior lens compatibility.

What drives you to enjoy photography?

I'm not quite sure.

I love being able to capture what's going on around me, as I see it, and have the ability to share that with others.

It forces me to think critically about everything I look at, and I see detail now, that I never saw before.

I like to show people where I've been, and what I've done.

What gloves keep your hands warm?

I like the Sears/Craftsman mechanics gloves. The full fingered ones are really nice, but they also have ones that have three fingers shortened and exposed. The full fingered ones are decent, I put in a new intake manifold gasket in my truck in freezing temperatures last year with them, so I would assume they are good enough for photography.

Insulation shouldn't be a concern. Keep your hands dry, and keep the wind off of them, and they'll stay warm enough.

Got my first DSLR (K-x)

Great choice. I've heard nothing but good things. Compared to the other cameras in its price range, the KX is miles ahead.

I was in that same boat. Picked up a high-end superzoom point and shoot a couple years back, and was totally unhappy with it once I started getting into photography. Started getting annoyed when I needed to go into the menu, press 15 buttons in the right order, do a dance for the magic camera gods, and sing "I'm a little teapot" just to switch to the shoddy manual focus or change the metering point. I suppose that's another story though.

Enjoy the camera, and enjoy the forums-welcome!

Meh, I've decided on the K200D. Reading a ton of threads, and I'm seeing K10D reliability issues cropping up everywhere. Both are weather sealed, have an available battery/vertical grip, and share a ton of other features. The familiarity of my K100D with the guts of a K10D sounds like a good idea, and while it doesn't have as many buttons, knobs and other trinkets, I can make due. The smaller body fits in my hand much better as well. Either camera would more than get the job done at the end of the day, but I think I've made up my mind. Thanks everyone for your help. I really appreciate it.

I love wordpress, good choice. Probably one of the most flexible CMS' I've ever used. While designed for blogging, you can make it do pretty much anything, as long as you know the php to do it. I might suggest using a different font, I'm a fan of helvetica, just a little bit cleaner. I would also increase the size for your links along the top to H5, At first glance, they aren't too evident right now, but I really understand your point there. You don't want to distract from the photography on the site. Keep it up, with a little tweaking your site will be even better.

Can anybody back that up? I'd like to hear some personal experience with it, not "I read", or "I heard". Not that I don't trust anyone, just would like some more information. That's definitely a concern of mine, but I'd like to know if it really is going to be a serious issue if I were to buy a factory refurb. This might be the deciding factor- Almost a 50/50 split between the K200D and K10D.

So far everything seems to be pointing to the K10D. The grip is a given, definitely a pro, I'd be getting it either way. I like a heavier, more solid feel. Reasoning for me listing the batteries on both as a pro and a con, is that I've been in situations where I'm glad I have the ability to use off-the-shelf batteries, but also feel that if I was using Li-Ion rechargeables that I wouldn't have been buying batteries as often, and might save money in the long run. A set of CRV3 lithiums for my K100D runs between $16-$20, highway robbery in my opinion, though I can get ~1000 clicks out of them if I don't use the LCD much. In response to "Why Not K20?"-I'm on a broke college students budget, the fact that I would be buying a K10 or K200 would be a miracle in itself. Yes, its for a business, I hope. There is no telling if it's going to take off even a little, just an idea. Kind of a gamble really.
Thank's everyone for your thoughts and opinions, I really appreciate it. Keep them coming if you have them though.

Hey everyone.
Looking at picking up a second camera body in the next month or two, and I'm not entirely sure what I want to go with. While the K-X seems nice, but its feature set seems rather limited, at least compared to what I want. I'm looking to start actually making money with photography, and a lone K100D isn't going to do that for me. I plan on doing little stuff, portraits, small events, all local stuff, nothing crazy. I can't a afford a K20D or a K-7. I will also be getting a 50mm f/1.7 soon. Right now here is what I'm looking at, with some pros/cons I've found. I would be buying refurbished or used. What do you think I should go with, and why?

K10D
Pros
-Li-Ion rechargeable batteries
-Huge feature set
-Front and rear adjustment dials
Cons
-Possible AF issues that I've been reading about
-Li-Ion rechargeable batteries

K200D
Pros
-AA Batteries
-Familiar (to the K100D that I already know), but limited feature set
-Slightly larger LCD than K10D
Cons
-AA Batteries
-Limited feature set

Both have a lot in common including:
-Availability of a battery grip
-10.2MP sensor
-Now standard dust removal and shake reduction
-Weather/dust resistant sealed body
-Price is about the same on the models

Could really use some help on this decision, thanks in advance.

Can you make a living selling prints?

Heh, this is sort of something I'm debating.
I'm an IT student, looking to graduate and start working within 2 years. Over the past year I picked up my first DSLR (My K100D) and been fascinated by photography, so much, that I wish I made it my career. I've had a lot of fun, and really enjoy capturing everything around me in photographs. I'm sure you could make money selling prints, you just need to find the right venue, the right business workflow, and the time to do it all.

I bought my K100D from woot.com factory refurbished, and that was about a year ago. I love the camera and haven't had a single problem with it 4000 clicks later. I'm looking to pick up a K10D to compliment it soon though, and am considering the Best Buy refurb (if I don't find a better deal on the marketplace).

I understand there is a stick for no brand wars, but this is just hilarious. Just a funny music video, you'll have to watch till the end. Unfortunately they diss on us pentaxians, but, I still laughed. Hopefully this isn't a dupe, but if it is and you're a moderator, feel free to delete this. Not sure what better category to post this in. Stick to the guidelines, don't hate, just take it for what it's worth and have a good laugh.

I think flickr has its place. I use it. $25 a year, unlimited storage, easily upload from Aperture with a plugin, no resolution limit, creative commons licensing, complete statistics for others viewing and such of your work and I find the navigation to be decent. As far as the social thing goes, I have a few friends on there, but they are all friends I actually know, and we use it to share eachother's work. Meh, I like it and will continue to use it.
