The Photo Sync app is a third party developed app that allows remote control of the camera via wifi.
You can look it up on the App Store or Google Play Store. It works better than the Image sync app although it is as slow if you want to do any image transfer from camera to mobile device, but that's the camera's wifi speed's fault, and it's not what I use it for anyway.
Being a third party app I'm a bit concerned it may not work properly (or at all) once the FW is updated, since it can not be rolled back.
The fact that the Image sync app works is a good sign, but I'd wait to see if any Photo Sync app user chimes in.

I find it mediocre at best. Even using the sharpest primes I have, which give me excellent results with stills, the video output is soft and lacks clarity. It is usable but compared to the video output of current, same level competitors is really well behind the pack.
On top of 1080 and low FPS only (no 4K) and poor image quality it lacks some key features like AF tracking and no continuous focus in video mode, which, is really a bummer.
I think this is an area where Pentax desperately needs to improve: I know the K1 is designed for stills, but in 2020 you cannot underestimate the importance of video for a well rounded product, besides, phones do quality 4k video...
I hope with the MKIII (BTW, any rumors about that?) this will be taken into serious account together with several other stills features.

And here are a few shots taken with the 24-70...I have to admit, for this particular situation (live band playing) it was more than enough (although I did use the 70-200 and 50 1.4 at times, for a change of perspective). For landscape it's also good, but I think I'll end up getting the 15-30 down the road as well, or the Laowa for the UWA that I love to shoot in some cases.
P.S. the combo K1/24-70 works insanely good for live music situations...it really stepped up my game, as I always struggled with the K30.

I don't mean to be rude but IMO shooting jpegs with a 36Mp FF camera is kind of pointless simply because engaging into such an expensive system (camera body, lenses and such) entails that one is after professional results, which means that the files have to be developed after shooting. Hence shooting RAW.
If one is OK with the quality of the SOOC jpegs files that's one thing, but I think in that case the K1 is kind of an overkill...there's many cameras out there that can deliver considerable jpeg results for a fraction of the K1's cost.
If going with the K1 is the first step to learning the whole system (shooting and editing) then starting to shoot RAW is the first step in the right direction.
I myself fall into the category of those who shoot thousands of pics in RAW to select the best ones afterwards and polish/refine them to their best in Lightroom/Photoshop, thus I don't find any use for Jpegs; neither for backup as their limited tweaking possibility in post is rather useless. I shoot RAW on both cards, that's my backup.
The only way I can see myself using Jpegs is sharing them on social networks (which I seldom do), for which mobile phones are easier and straightforward...and to be honest, the latest models can take pretty darn good images if used the right way (and besides, latest iPhones and Android devices can shoot RAW too...).

Hi Xiaoming,
not an issue, great news you are working on it and it's almost done. IMO that would be a super handy feature that will eliminate the need to use wired or wireless remote controls and just use smartphone or tablet which will also unlock may other possibilities.
I would't consider migrating to Mac/PC a priority as that would be a very specialized, studio only application, whereas in the field is where you really need that control capability.

Hi all,
didn't go through the whole thread but what I see is people are focusing ( :p ) on the image transfer feature that, though useful, is the least useful of the possible functions this app could offer.
As I understand, Xiaoming is working on the remote control features which are IMO the coolest and most useful features for such an app.
It would be incredibly cool to have the possibility to frame the shot on a large screen tablet and control focus, mode and all of the other parameters from a tablet...on top of transferring files.
That of course depends on what parameters the camera actually exposes in the control protocol, but having some is better than nothing...and better than the Image Sync app...
To Xiaoming: I'm a product manager at a music software company and my job is iOS app development (and Android to some extent), GUI design, features implementation, testing and all the related stuff, so if you need feedback or collaboration for the development of the app just reach out and we'll talk.

...and after spending the first half an hour with it, well, I love it!
Enormous step up from my humble K30, but image quality and sensor size apart, I love the amount of clever technology that's been put in there...I don't know if equivalent Canikon models have that much useful features and a so well specified ergonomics...feels like all of the buttons and switches are in the right place and you just need to go into the menus for deep settings...all of the most used ones fall right there under your your fingertips, just like it was designed by somebody who uses it everyday...I didn't have to look at the manual once...
I still have to dive in the menus and all of the custom functions, but the transition from y K30 has been so natural and easy..
Now, if I could manage to have that Sigma 70-200 working with it I would be a real happy camper...

Here's a few shots I took in the hills nearby my house, unfortunately the river is a bit dry in this season, I'll get back in october to get the same shots and see the difference.
K30, Sigma 10-20 F/3.5 HSM, ISO 100, F14, 25 Sec, polarizer filter on (except for the bridge one which I screwed because I left the aperture to 3.5 by accident...)

Again, thanx all for your valuable input.
I may think about that a bit more, but pulling the trigger on a 100€ DA50 1.8 will not break the bank and could get me an idea of what is it to shoot with a prime. That could lead (in a reasonably short amount of time, after I upgrate to K1) to a DA 55 as I'm starting to question the fact that I have all Sigma lenses with a Pentax body and I haven't tried a "real" Penatx lens other than the original kit lens that came with the K30...
