I've seen some great K-1 second hand deals lately. Keep putting money away.

Liberty - Forester - Forester - and now XV (mostly driven by my wife). I prefer my old RAV4 for the rough roads I have to cover. Subarus don't seem to cope with kangaroos and wallabies all that well. It isn't a matter of running into them. They just seem to enjoy head-butting the side panels.

I don't know how long my K-3 will last but I can see the mark III being a camera to grow old with.

I have bought a used K3 a few weeks ago.
It is only my 3rd pentax camera in 33 years, following a Super A that served me 20 years and a K110 that served me 13 years. Both are still in very good shape.
I do change a body when I feel that I REALLY need some more functions or better performance: I think it will be a long time before I will reach the limits of the K3.

K-70 just arrived! Slapped my 18-135 on an we goin' for a walk!
First impressions are only from holding the body.. but it's remarkable how different the body appears from my K-S2.
I really thought that they reused the K-S2 body and made some tweaks, but in honesty it feels like a whole different build quality.
Very excited to see some pictures!

the KP has more AF points..
people say it's built better...
Wasn't enough for me to justify a third more cost :D

I also couldn't see any advantage of the KP over the K70 - so I did the same.
The K70 is a great camera, enjoy!

Hey!
After my K-S2 died on me (shutter count 50,528), I was left in a bit of pickle:
I will be getting the K-New once a pre-order is available, but it's not available.
I have a K-5, but it does not support the KAF4 mount (gotta love the PLM).
My plan was to retire (sell) the K-5 and keep the K-S2 as a backup to the K-New.
Also, I was quite fond of the flippy screen on the K-S2 and believe I'd miss it.
Therefore, I have purchased a new K-70 (mail ordered body only) to act as a backup for when the K-New comes along.
For those who say I should have got a KP: the KP is currently $1050 CAD on sale, the K-70 was only $687 CAD on sale - I saved a third the price, and I got a better grip and fully articulating screen... not bad.
Very exciting!

It wasn't an easy choice as my Pentax SMC 645 A 35mm has that wow factor, but I picked the Pentax SMC 645 A 75mm f/2.8. It's the litmus test for myself or any photographer as a simple, clean, affordable, sharp, compact, reliable, and straight forward normal manual focus prime.
I don't think it really has a chance against dozens of newer and more modern Pentax lenses, but after 35 years, it's the lens I return to.

Bonus:
Driving a stick shift makes your car 99% safe from carjackers. Carrying a camera that does not have Nikon or Canon plastered all over it makes your gear safer from pilfering baggage handlers or light fingered hotel staff.

I love manual, hence my box of vintage primes. Peaking and outline peaking (KP) means you can manually get your images super sharp

Using good quality manual lenses slows me down just enough that I often notice more and adjust my composition accordingly.

No you are not nuts, in fact the desire for manual focus lenses is why it is hard to find anything Pentax for sale any more. Since all the cameras can use the MF lenses, the total population of DSLRs in the Pentax world have created a shortage in Legacy lenses.
Either you are as sane as everyone else, or you are in good company. Along with me ad probably the rest of the PF world as well:)

Someone thought it would be a blast? I guess take small comfort it wasn't placed directly in front of the cannon?
Maybe they mixed up cannon and canon?

I have two old film SLRs with film partially shot. I should get out and finish them off and get them processed. They both go back probably at least 15 years. I've kept them in fairly well controlled environment, temperature and humidity. Har to tell what I might find.

I switched from Pentax to Canon in 1995 because I liked their EF/usm AF lenses so much better than what Nikon and Pentax were using at the time {and then I came back to Pentax 2014-15 because Canon Rebel bodies were not reliable enough for me}.
That said, it depends entirely on your preferences. I use AF because it works better than MF does for me and for the majority of subjects I photograph, but if you are different, then you should make the decision that is best for you.

I can't believe they had a section in the left-hand video for "changing lanes in a roundabout". That would have to be about the dumbest thing a driver could do in the middle of a roundabout - just get in the correct lane in the first place.
