Thank you Spex, I suspected that as the cause, but wanted to see what experience others have had. Yes it was a cheap lense and I will be getting a good quality one soon!
Thanks again!

I just discovered that I cannot focus my Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 DG Macro lens with a new Massa CPL. (Cheap Filter)?
It will focus between 70-100mm, but above it's out of focus, even when auto focus beeps. Can't manual focus either!
I use the same brand with the 18-55 smc Pentax DA with no problems.
Anyone else have this problem?
No problems with the UV filter.

Ya, it's cropped about 50%. They are one of the local game birds in southeast Arizona.

Thanks for the cudos! I think #3 is my favorite too! It's amazing how alive the desert is, even this time of the year.

No they are not poisonous. In fact they are very tame and don't mind being handled a little. (carefully). The reason there are so few anymore is rather ironic. Yes they do eat ants, but the ants are their worst enemy as well.
The influx of fire ants into the areas that they used to be so common is the reason there are no so few. When the lizards are very small they are attacked by fire ants, killed and eaten. Road runners also take there share of them.
Thanks for the input! It was very early in the morning and the sun was coming up. The focus issue was because I was focusing on the body trying to sharpen the skin and horns.

I agree with Lowell, its a Gray Jay, Camp Robber, Pinon Jay or Mexican Jay depending on what part of the country your in. Here in AZ we call them Mexican Jays or Pinon (Pinyon) Jays.
Good shot though!

I carry a Nikon coolpix 800 in the truck and a Fujifilm Finepix s800 (SLR like) in my camera pack with my K200D.
Don't use the coolpix much anymore though.
