I haven't made disparaging remarks about Pentax. I'm not sour about Pentax.
I just find it hilarious how sensitive so many are to any hint of negativity towards their beloved brand, whether it's justified or not.
It's even funnier that you think your opinion about whether or not I should be here is even worth sharing.

i'm making on-topic posts in a thread about this specific camera.
do i owe you something for "tolerating" my on-topicness?
i made a comment about everyone taking things severely OFF-topic, and doing it habitually.
the reason i'm still around is i have some stuff in the mail, and i cannot delete my account here until i know that the buyers are satisfied with their purchases.

What I've been most impressed with is their lenses. The pro line of Olympus lenses are staggeringly good.
Their ibis is incredible though. I'm tempted to buy one of their IS lenses just to see how far you can push it when it syncs with the ibis. People are hand holding multi second exposures with these.

I just find it so strange that the great defenders are spending their time defending on a board for Pentax enthusiasts. None of us need convincing
The em1x is a really interesting camera. It's a shame we can't talk about it because some website said something bad about a k1

It's annoying to see that any post about a camera other than Pentax simply degrades into some meaningless defense of the pentax that was never even criticized.
Pentax folks are the most defensive I've ever seen. It's so strange.

great, another thread that's degraded completely into people defending the k1
wtf does the k1 have to do with a micro 4/3 camera

so if you didn't watch the video why are you so qualified to complain about their decision?
they made it very clear why they suggested it for the list, and also made it very clear that they were impressed with the k1.
this is camera of the year for 2018, ie any camera not released in 2018 is not to be considered. so why would you be so heartbroken that a good camera was selected for the worst list because it represents very little relative to the outgoing model. the new canon eos R is getting the same treatment as it's completely underwhelming as a successor to the outgoing camera (this does not make it bad). that's all the k1-ii criticism represents.

did the k3 ii not include special SR modes specifically for panning? where it would only correct vertically? i could be totally wrong here.

i'm bike obsessed. have had 9 of them, all sport bikes except for the super motard
1996 kawasaki zx7r
2003 honda rc51
2003 honda gsxr 600 race bike
2010 ktm rc8r
2010 ktm 690 SMC
2008 honda cbr 600rr
2005 honda rc51
2015 honda grom
2015 honda cbr 300f (parts bike to supply the grom project)
the crown jewel is my 2005 rc51 though. this bike has been my most serious project, where i've used some very very hard to find parts, and have also designed and produced a lot of one-of-a kind parts as well. i've done the 3d modeling and my good friend machinist has produced the parts. there's simply too much going on to mention it all, but the flickr gallery link at the bottom will take you to a photo break down of it. and yes, i do ride it. did two track days last year on it, will do more this year i hope.
i take a lot of photos at the track, and if i'm going out there i usually pack my camera back pack and ride out. 02 by William Glancy, on Flickr 04 by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_31_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_28_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_23_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_19_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_15_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr Trackday01_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr

to be totally fair, a 2.8 max aperture lens is never going to focus in low light as well as a 1.4 max aperture lens. for obvious reasons.

I'll have a closer look when I get back. Could make a video I suppose. ---------- Post added 12-13-18 at 08:31 PM ----------
this is the best i could do to capture what i'm talking about. the focus ring doesn't move, just the barrel ever so slightly. i also tried to show the screwdrive noise, then again moving slowly to show it's silent when you're not reefing on it. You Tube |

Using high resolution on my em1 it produces a very very clean 80mpx raw file. It's pretty astonishing. It also doesn't take overly long to produce. I could time it I guess.
I'm not sure how well handheld would work. I'd assume it would only work on shorter focal length. I believe it can get all 8 shots off in 1/60th

they're suggesting it can do handheld high res (pixel shift on steroids, olympus uses 8 frames for pixel shift) which would be interesting for sure.

it's a big of a set back for sure. i had everything sold, not a pentax thing to my name. and now i'm back again. oh well it happens.
i've had very good luck with the marketplace so i don't necessarily agree with your statement. i originally sold these lenses for less than almost any others i could find listed, i figured that was a great deal. now i have them priced even lower as i don't even have a pentax camera.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
MIJ FA31 (sold) MIJ FA77 (450 USD) Asking Price
450.00 USD Item Location
Edmonton (Canada) Item Description
FULL DISCLOSURE
i sold these lenses together to a member on here for 1100 USD for both of them. fees included, shipped.
upon receipt the purchaser claimed that there was a "Grinding noise" when manually focusing the lenses. the sound made i couldn't describe as "grinding", it's more a mechanical whirr or buzz, i presume from the screwdrive assembly. i believe this noise to be normal and it is shown in this video at the 0:50 second mark You Tube |
src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3rInLliIUMI?controls=1" allowfullscreen> |
both lenses make some noise when focusing, especially if you wrap the manual focus ring quickly from stop to stop (not exactly something you'd ever do with a lens). the 31 is louder than the 77, but it also has a shorter focus throw, so the screw will be moving faster (more mechanical noise) for a given focus ring speed. the focus rings on both lenses move VERY smoothly without any indication of notchiness or inconsistency anywhere along their travel.
the buyer also complained about dust in the 77, and there is, but i've never seen a lens without it. i don't find it to be excessive at all, and certainly it doesn't affect image quality
finally, the buyer complained about "smudging" on the lens barrels.
both of these lenses are in used but (i'd say) very good condition. if you look at them closely you will find marks in the anodizing (most notably on the underside of the lenses near the aperture ring), but the finish is still black and has not burned through. on the focus rings there are a couple of places you can see the anodizing has worn off the very points of the knurling, but again i don't think this is an issue. these are, of course, used lenses.
even though the buyer complained about the lenses, and returned them, he suggested that these were an "8 or an 8+".
finally, the 31 has a slight barrel wobble, which i have never found to be an issue, and has been discussed to death on these boards. if you hold the lens and pull at it, you can see (and hear) a slight movement in the front barrel. i presume that as a lens is used the clearances will relax. again, this is full disclosure.
both lenses come with the original caps, original boxes, and original documentation. they'll make a geat addition to someone's bag.

There's no way that a store is going to test every lens to check for full frame image circle coverage. If it's a da it's apsc, if it's a d-fa it's full frame
I bet there are Nikon dx lenses that cover full frame, but you'd never find them advertised as such.
