i'm bike obsessed. have had 9 of them, all sport bikes except for the super motard
1996 kawasaki zx7r
2003 honda rc51
2003 honda gsxr 600 race bike
2010 ktm rc8r
2010 ktm 690 SMC
2008 honda cbr 600rr
2005 honda rc51
2015 honda grom
2015 honda cbr 300f (parts bike to supply the grom project)
the crown jewel is my 2005 rc51 though. this bike has been my most serious project, where i've used some very very hard to find parts, and have also designed and produced a lot of one-of-a kind parts as well. i've done the 3d modeling and my good friend machinist has produced the parts. there's simply too much going on to mention it all, but the flickr gallery link at the bottom will take you to a photo break down of it. and yes, i do ride it. did two track days last year on it, will do more this year i hope.
i take a lot of photos at the track, and if i'm going out there i usually pack my camera back pack and ride out. 02 by William Glancy, on Flickr 04 by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_31_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_28_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_23_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_19_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr RC51_15_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr Trackday01_sm by William Glancy, on Flickr

The red dots are selective. Meaning you can select where they go. The white spots are auto, meaning the camera will choose the focus point within the zone. White spot is just center, you can't move it

great, another thread that's degraded completely into people defending the k1
wtf does the k1 have to do with a micro 4/3 camera

Cell phones have wide angle handled certainly, but Don't have much hope with telephoto.
So long as all the companies keep building larger and larger (some of these new lenses are getting ridiculous), there will be people who want a compact kit. Hell I bet a large portion of m43 shooters have a full frame kit.

so if you didn't watch the video why are you so qualified to complain about their decision?
they made it very clear why they suggested it for the list, and also made it very clear that they were impressed with the k1.
this is camera of the year for 2018, ie any camera not released in 2018 is not to be considered. so why would you be so heartbroken that a good camera was selected for the worst list because it represents very little relative to the outgoing model. the new canon eos R is getting the same treatment as it's completely underwhelming as a successor to the outgoing camera (this does not make it bad). that's all the k1-ii criticism represents.

So a boosted 2 litre that moves the same amount of fuel and air and produces the same horsepower and torque as a naturally aspirated 4 litre has not found a replacement for displacement?
Really?
Also feel free to understand that nothing I have said has anything to do with image sensors. You are taking this in a direction it was never steered.

BOOST replaces displacement...
That is the ONLY topic here.
You are just running it off in a direction that suits your agenda.
There is a point of diminishing returns due to practicality. You cannot put a marine engine in your hatch back can you now.
I'm off, you are just trying to sway this in a different direction to push a point that is not relevant to the original statement.

Volumetrically, you can make a 2L consome and combust the same amount of air and fuel as a 4L by pressurizing the intake charge. So yes, boost will make a smaller engine act like a much larger one. Replacing increased displacement with boost has many more merits beyond simply acting like a larger engine volumetrically. It has nothing to do with sucking in your gut.
You are again twisting it around to suit yourself. You can replace displacement with boost. The fallacy of the original statement is obvious.
Arguing that you can supe up anything isn't really an argument at all, since it's incredibly obvious there is a point of diminishing returns. Do you have the largest engine available? The largest sensor available?
Don't even answer that.

You can increase the volumetric capacity of a motor with boost. It replaces displacement. Just pointing out the flaw in the statement.

Except there is a direct replacement for displacement. All the car companies are doing it.

so what if you don't need high iso?
the omd em1 has an insane feature pack (not too unlike pentax, pixel shift, ibis, interval composite, auto bracketing etc), and a very small package. they also have fast focusing, large aperture, super small, weather sealed primes. something that pentax has long forgotten about.
if the da limiteds were weather sealed and dc motor focusing there would be far less argument for some of the other systems.
the fuji system also features very small, reasonably fast, reasonably priced, fast focusing primes.

did the k3 ii not include special SR modes specifically for panning? where it would only correct vertically? i could be totally wrong here.

i'm making on-topic posts in a thread about this specific camera.
do i owe you something for "tolerating" my on-topicness?
i made a comment about everyone taking things severely OFF-topic, and doing it habitually.
the reason i'm still around is i have some stuff in the mail, and i cannot delete my account here until i know that the buyers are satisfied with their purchases.

It's annoying to see that any post about a camera other than Pentax simply degrades into some meaningless defense of the pentax that was never even criticized.
Pentax folks are the most defensive I've ever seen. It's so strange.

There's no way that a store is going to test every lens to check for full frame image circle coverage. If it's a da it's apsc, if it's a d-fa it's full frame
I bet there are Nikon dx lenses that cover full frame, but you'd never find them advertised as such.

i was going to buy one, until i handled one. hated the dials, hated the lack of grip. then looking at features or lack thereof i ended up with an olympus em1 mkii. no regrets. yes the m43 isn't the same as apsc, but the em1 was the same price as the xt3, similar lens selection, and a feature set that's not even comparable.
i'd say go play with one before buying.

Again, you've missed the point.
You can write all the long diatribes you want about this, if you have failed to understand the point there can be no progress. I won't spell it out for you again.
Have a good one.

Oh trust me I have no cash to burn. But I'm also an equipment junky.
I really lust after a two lens compact kit that will do everything I want. But it's made by Nikon and costs about 10 grand.
I do like the Pentax for what you get for your money, which is why I asked here.
Maybe I'll sell my 16-50 and grab an 18-135

while my girlfriend competed in ironman i was out with the camera for a while. took these during the bike portion of the event (the most interesting from a photo taking standpoint i think). unfortunately i didn't get a shot of my girlfriend as a car obscured her on her way by. very disappointing. so here are a few people i don't know.

went for a little walk down canmore creek with the camera last weekend. had an nd8 filter mounted on the da15 and got a couple nice longer exposures. this was my favorite :)
the attachment quality isn't fantastic, but it's on drop box too Dropbox - canmore_01_wp.tif |
