Thank you! Brings back some memories...
That's helpful, the website seems to confirm that too. Phew!
OK, so when I look at: Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation - Service & Repair and start the process, it says I will be charged $166.50 - they don't charge that to my card when I click the Submit Order button do they? I was under the impression that once they get the camera and docs, they'll confirm the price/warranty coverage at that point.
Am I doing this right?

OK, odd question/request.
I purchased the 2 year extended warranty from Adorama last year. Looks like my K-50's aperture mechanism has busted so I go to look for the card but can't find it. I think it would help if I could remember what it looked like.
Does anyone out there have a picture of the card they can post here so I can see what I am digging around for? I couldn't see anything familiar on a Google Images search and I've already spent two hours tearing the house apart looking for it. I found the warranty receipt from Adorama, but not the warranty card itself!
Thanks in advance.

Yeah I've picked up a lens on the marketplace before. Hard for K-50 owners to sell when the retail price for new is so low these days.

Yeah I'm looking at just getting something used before I leave. That being said, new K-50s seem to be going for around $250 these days. Would it be crazy to have two?! I suppose I could just resell one when I get back...

OK so I've noticed that a lot of pictures are coming out under-exposed. It's got to the point where I am always having to add exposure compensation and exposure bracketing in the hopes of getting a decent shot.
After some digging I see mention of a possible aperture actuator mechanism issue.
I think I saw someone mention setting the camera to manual, opening the aperture all the way and setting the shutter to 3 seconds, then watching the aperture. I just did that test and as soon as I press the shutter button, the aperture appears to go from wide open to almost closed. At the end of the 3 seconds, I hear the mirror move as normal. This happens regardless of whether I am in liveview mode or not.
I've also done a factory reset, but the issue remains.
I have the extended warranty (camera is about 13 months old) but I'm going on an extended overseas trip in a week's time. Does this sound like an aperture actuator mechanism issue? Does anyone know much this costs to fix at a repair shop if I decide to try to get it sorted before going overseas?
Thanks in advance.

Still a heck of a deal!
I don't have Prime so won't be getting the lens until next week some time. Be sure to post some photos and early impressions when yours arrives.

That's an amazing delivery schedule! Are you next door to a fulfillment center?!
Placed my order today with my Chase card - should come to $82.85 with the cashback. Amazing.

Tried at $65, again at $70 and again at $75. No dice.
Will buy from Amazon on Monday if it's still around the $92 mark since Chase will be doing 10% off Amazon purchases.

Love it! My Composer Pro with Sweet 50 arrives on Monday so hopefully I'll have something to share soon. Unlikely to meet the quality of yours, but it'll be a fun learning process no doubt.

After seeing some photos taken from the entry level Spark over on Facebook, and seeing the promo pricing for the Composer Pro with Sweet 50 (under 200 bucks) I took the plunge and gave myself an end-of-year gift to go with my K-50. The Composer Pro and Sweet 50 should be arriving next week, so in the meantime I've read through every page of this thread.
How about we bring it back from the dead (oh, and has anyone else got the Sweet 50)?

I bought my K-50 on November 30 and it arrived on December 5. Is this warranty by date of purchase or date of delivery? It looks like date of purchase - in which case today is the 30th day if today isn't counted as a day (31 if it is counted). Does anyone have a link to the fineprint or can tell me if this would be valid if I purchased today?

From what I've been reading about the 35mm and 50mm plastic fantastics, the 50mm sounds better suited for portraits (to my amateur-minded brain). What makes you prefer the 35mm? Is it just the flexibility of the lens, or do you feel it's a better portrait lens?

Thanks for the welcome.
My LX-3 was 24-60mm so I am used to the limited focal range. That being said, I loved the f2.0-f2.8 on the LX-3 and I'm sure I'll miss that with my new camera and kit lens. I particularly enjoyed using my LX-3 in low-light situations without a flash.

I've had a Panasonic Lumix LX-3 for a number of years now, and decided to use the Black Friday/Cyber Monday period to upgrade to a DSLR.
I was originally looking at the Nikon D3300, but got turned onto the Pentax K-50 which looked like a better 'bang' for the buck. Living in the Pacific Northwest, I also felt the Weatherproofing could prove to be invaluable.
So, far the past few days I've been online nonstop looking for the best deal. I was going to hit the BuyDig deal of a K-50 with 18-55 kit lens for $429 - however, today Amazon reduced it to $439 and with the $25 camera credit when you buy a $100 gift card, it knocked the price down to $414. With the 5% Amazon cashback with a Chase Freedom credit card, my final price will come to around $393. Not a bad price, I thought!
So now I need to figure out what my first lens purchase will be. I have a baby due in February so I expect I'll be taking lots of baby photos. I've also got into close-up photography with my LX-3 and would like to continue exploring this with my K-50.
I know that the more I have to change lenses, the less I'll carry them around with me so would be open to suggestions for a first lens purchase.
I look forward to hearing some ideas and suggestions.
Thanks for having me as a member :)
