Thanks! The foreground structure is a water channel that was supplying water to the mill in the background.

Thanks, I took also the other - overshot - composition looking at the front of the Mill but I'm much happier with this one especially since it wasn't that easy to find a right vantage point :)

Got very luck - I only had one chance for a sunset as I was doing a roadtrip and was on a schedule. The whole drive from Zion to Page it looked like I won't be able to take a good shot due to weather and then it cleared just 30 min before I took this shot! ---------- Post added 01-16-17 at 05:27 PM ----------
Thanks! Yes the Sigma 10-20 did a good job here, I was worried I'll loose detail vs my primary lens (Pentax Ltd. 20-40) but I was positively surprised at how it turned out. ---------- Post added 01-16-17 at 05:28 PM ----------
I was more worried about all the other people who were taking way more chances than I did just to get that perfect shot. ---------- Post added 01-16-17 at 05:28 PM ----------

Captured this image on a road trip through Utah and Arizona, got pretty lucky with the sky since it was fully overcast on the way to Page but the clouds scattered just enough at sunset to create those colors.

After hiking Angels Landing in Zion last week I quickly rushed to get to the bridge in the middle of the canyon which is everyone's favorite spot for capturing sunsets in this beautiful place. Got there just in time to setup and snap a couple quick shots. Used two shots here to increase the dynamic range. |

Nice! I'm going to do the same on my original, don't know how i missed that one really :) ---------- Post added 10-07-16 at 09:07 AM ----------
I needed the 10mm in this case, the Sigma 10-20 is not the best in many aspects but that 10mm is such a useful length for landscape. I wish Pentax would make a 10-20 Ltd (something like the 20-40 Ltd. that I use 99% of the time) ---------- Post added 10-07-16 at 09:08 AM ----------
The Arch in this case starts too look too HDR for my taste if you boost the shadows too much (and this image is already a composite of 3 images to get the needed dynamic range).

I just realized you're not talking about the big and dark one at 8:00 but near the corner, instead you're thinking about the one closer to the sun (which you mentioned, my mind just skipped that information for some reason ;)) - I see that now and yes I'll try to work on that one.

Thank you! There were more flares unfortunately with this lens shooting into the sun and I got rid of the small and bright ones but left that big one alone since it was too much of a pain to deal with it :) Thanks for noticing nonetheless. ---------- Post added 10-05-16 at 08:50 AM ---------- Thank you all @th1952 @gelokrol @Mr. Ed @Fries @Kerrowdown

Sunset shot I took last week on a road trip through Utah and Arizona. I saw many pictures of the Delicate Arch, but wanted something different than the 99% of shots on google images. Decided on a side angle shooting straight into the setting sun and really like the end result. Getting the people out of the frame was a fun challenge ;)

Thanks! I think the texture (and light) is what I most like about this shot.

I took a couple of sunset shots from Steptoe Butte in the Palouse region of south-east Washington over the weekend. I think this one is my favorite from the set I posted on my blog - it's interesting because at first a different one was my top selection but today when I looked at the images again this one won me over :) Anyway I'm curious what you think! |

Thanks for the feedback!
@taks - I know I was in Hood River earlier and I wished I had my kitesurfing gear - it was blowing nice the whole day - but the part of the river closer to Portland got calm pretty quickly later in the day, from Vista House to PDX it was mirror flat
@jeffreybehr - thanks - this is a crop of a wider shot - i tried a narrower crop but it always cut out something i liked here - i wish I didn't had the shadow in the lower corner but overall i don't mind it too much, yes i used a CPL, there was a considerable amount of haze in the air, i cleared it as much as i could in post (without going overboard)
@paulh - thanks!
a minute after i took the shot a group of longboarders passed by - catching them in the shot would have been something ---------- Post added 04-15-16 at 01:42 PM ---------- Vista House is right here: https://goo.gl/maps/3FverF2TLww |

I've been to Vista House a couple of times now but always in the morning - finally made it there around sunset and now I see what I've missed before - the Columbia River Gorge looked simply beautiful. I'm curious what you think of this image. |

Middle of the day (I know :/) shot of a Tucker Sno-cat at Timberline Lodge - I took a couple of quick shots last weekend during a day road trip - and this one was my favorite. I wish I was there later to have some softer sun but I still like the result - I'm curious what you think. Also first time using Color Efex Pro after the Nik Collection went free. |
