Threads like these always seem a little weird to me.
If someone asks or claims (after reading a test) that a 300$ lens is better than a 1000$ that just is weird isn't it??
And I have already read a few looooong threads about how the 18-55 kit lens performs as good as the 16-50 or 16-45 or Tamron 17-50...but that is just nonsence.
My 18-55 kit is an OK lens, as cheap as it gets and therefore a good deal, but that's all.
It is a huge difference if a lens is sharp at f2.8 (or f 4 with the 16-45) or if you have to close it to f8 to get acceptable image quality (with the 18-55).
And still the 18-55 at f8 still isn't as sharp as the better lenses at f2.8 or f4.
And I know what the photozone test says about the 18-55 in terms of resolution...I almost fell of the chair as I was reading it...according to the tests it should be as good as the FA limiteds....
So again - nonsence.
I know it doesn't aply to the question asked but I think the relations are the same.
As already said, the 55-300 is a good lens, but not comparable to a DA* 300/4.
My advice: try them all out I see for yourself.

Well this is the perfect thread for me, since I'm in the same dillema.
The only difference is that I'm considering the DA 35 also.
I thought between the DA35 and DA40 I would chose the first one since wider and the macro is a +.
No idea at this point...

Hello
I know I read allready a few things about these converters here but I just can't find the threads anymore so I'm starting a new one.
Maybe it will help a few more people not just me.
So my first question would be are these the two that work with SDM?
I am getting a 50-135 and a few mm added on the long end would be very helpful sometimes...but not all the time. So I thought a converter would be a much better choice (smaller, lighter, cheaper...) then a new lens...and there is no other lens with a constant f4...except for the 60-250 but that one is big, heavy and expensive and I really don't need the extra mm that often.
Does the kenko take more than 1 stop since it is 1.5?
How is the quality of these 2? Sharpness, coolurs, CA, does the AF get any slower...?
Since the Kenko sells for 90$ on e-bay and the Tamron for 199$ one should think it is clear which one is better, but I would realy like to hear opinions from people who have used one or even both.
Thanks

Hello
I have to agree with JML.
I am from Europe too...from Slovenia to specific...and although a lot of people probably don't know much about my country I have allready bought a few things from this forum and had no problems what so ever...
I have also bought and sold a few things from/to Germany on their forums and never had a problem...
It really is a trust issue and I trust the forum members and that is why I prefer to buy and sell on a forum much rather then at e-bay...even if that means that I have to pay a few € more or get a few less...
And I would buy this lens in a heartbeat since I am looking for one at the moment...if there wasn't the EU border...
So again I will buy it from Germany for appr. 800$ or 550€....but that still is a wery good price for Europe...
So people don't make more problems than necessary...and show a little trust to each other. :D
Just my 2 (€)cents...
Good luck with the sell

Once more:
Turn the lens for one inch to the right and use it as an A lens in Av mode!!! Seriously it works and lens doe not fall off!
And you will have no trouble with meetering anymore.

Do you want your M lenses to work as an A lens in Av mode?
Here is what you have to do.
When you put the lens on the mount, do not turn it full until it locks in, but stop a litlle before that (so that the red point on the lens is somewhere in the area of the letter P on the Pentax writing on the flash).
Go it?
Now turn the camera on an you can use it normali in the Av mode.
The blades now close as you turn the aperture ring and so the camera can meassure the exposure corectly (often you have to compensate +0.3 or +0.7).
