Kind of hard to get a hold of here it seems, no local chain has them. Would something like these work?

I did indeed end up keeping the lens, just need to figure out what size ball bearing is needed... Should be something like 1mm I'd imagine.
Think I have a set of watch repair screwdrivers somewhere, I'd imagine those would work? Otherwise I'll have to go through my sizeable collection of Lidl screwdrivers 😅
Thanks for the quick reply!

Hey all!
Quick question, I bought this 50mm f1.4 lens, but the aperture ring doesn't click and rotates freely. As such it doesn't work on my LX since it just gets pushed back to f22 by the spring pressure from the camera. Youtu.be |

The lens is otherwise pristine, so I assume someone did this by design to work with the included Fuji X adapter. The seller has offered me half the purchase price of $45 back if I decide to keep it.
Is this sort of lens easily repaired or should I return it?
Edit: There's no rattling noise from the lens, so nothing seems to be loose.

Haha, certifiable sounds about right ;) Fortunately it's the right kind of crazy, the LX is my favorite analog camera by far.
Fair warning, he said that replacing the mirror dampeners was really hard. He managed it just fine on my camera though. =)

Thanks, I read that but couldn't find anything mentioning the beeping in the troubleshooting section. Closest thing is on page 32, where it mentions some situations where the zoom will not work.

Hey all!
Just wanted to check if anyone here has any knowledge of the Ricoh Mirai? Found one at a thrift store and decided to pick it up for fun, but I can't get it to focus, either through autofocus or "manual focus". The shutter, zoom, flash etc works fine though.
Did I just pick up a junker? =)
Thanks!
Update: Turns out the AF switch on the underside was set to "M", so that solves the previous issue. However, now the zoom seems to have stopped working. It's stuck on 40-45mm according to the LCD. If I try to set it to "Macro" it makes a loud beep, same thing when I turn it off. Also, the AF still doesn't work. I just put fresh batteries in, 4 AAAs.

Hehe, props for a very artsy response! I'll see if I can get this stuff at the pharmacy. Thanks for the tips, guys!

Hey guys,
Yesterday I managed to get my hands on some old plastic bellows bottles (the kind you can compress to get the air out) for my darkroom chemicals. However, the biggest and potentially most useful one seems to have a coating of old black, dried, powdery gunk on the inside. According to what's written on the bottle there was some kind of fix for bleached color negatives in there.
I'm hoping to keep my b&w developer in there, so it needs to be pretty clean. Dish soap and hot water did nothing to this gunk, unfortunately. Anyone got an idea on how to clean it out properly?

Yeah, can't seem to get that feature to work. Looks like someone superglued the buttons at some point for reasons best left unknown. The round button's stuck, and the slider seems to do nothing.
Either way, after trying the Z1P out today I can't say I find it nearly as enjoyable to use as my LX. I'll finish up the roll and see if I decide to keep it or not.

Hey guys,
I just bought myself a Pentax Z1P and got a FA 28-80 3.5-4.7 as a bonus. Way I understand it, it's not the best lens in the bunch. I still thought I'd try it, but I'm a bit turned off by the zoom ring. Feels very gritty and resistant when turned. Is this common, or should I try taking it apart and lubricating the ring or something?
Thanks!

Right, I can confirm that if the LX meter determines the shutter speed to be 1/30 or slower the flash will fire. To determine this I pointed the LX towards the ceiling lamp at f/1.8, resulting in an auto shutter speed of 1/250. The flash did not fire. I then brought it up to f/11 resulting in 1/30, whereupon the flash did fire. At 1/125 and 1/60 the flash did not fire. This was all done using the flash at P-TTL and 35mm mode.
The flash did seem very bright at 1/30, so I'm thinking lowering its intensity to -1 or -2 would result in decent fill flash. I'll try it out next time I load it up.
Yep, mine had its mirror dampener pads removed at some point before I got it. Fortunately Jon Goodman replaced 'em for me along with the rest of the seals. Works great now!

Thanks for all your tips, guys. Sounds to me like I should use a very small aperture next time I want to take a pic like that. I figure that if I get the automatic time down below the X speed the flash should go off, right?
Also, does anyone know for sure if the AF540FGZ's P-TTL works with the LX if you set it to 35mm mode? I'm lacking a manual for it.
Edit: The 540 does indeed support the LX for TTL. See the PDF manual here, page 61.

Hey guys!
Just got back from the Stockholm Photo Marathon using my LX. Was a blast!
However, when taking a portrait of my girlfriend with the sunset behind her I wanted to use my flash unit, a AF540FGZ, as a fill flash. However, the flash didn't fire. Is this some kind of safeguard to prevent overexposure or is there something wrong here? Had the LX set to Automatic and the flash set to P-TTL and 35mm.
Thanks!

Hm, well darn. As it turns out they've actually got a list of films allowed XD
Color:
Kodak Portra 160, 36 exposures
Kodak Portra 400, 36 exposures
Black & White:
Ilford Delta 100, 36 exposures
Kodak Tri-X 400, 36 exposures
Ilford Delta 3200, 36 exposures
Fuji Neopan 400, 36 exposures
So I'm reckoning I'll go either Portra 160 or Tri-X 400. Great tips though, everyone! I'll be sure to try them out.

Hm, cool. No idea if color reversal film is allowed, but I'll consider it!
Oh, and here's the selection of films one of the local shops have in stock. Fairly expensive place, but they've got a lot to choose from =) Link to the store |

Another clarification: The roll will be developed for me by a lab hired by the competition. No pushing or pulling will be allowed.
Also, isn't Plus-X discontinued...?
Any more suggestions for color film except Portra?

Thanks for the tips, everyone! Keep the ideas flowing =)
Just to clarify, I'm free to use a 36 exposure roll as long as there's only 24 exposures on it when I hand it in =)
Well, there's no telling what weather I'll be facing, but one thing that's for sure is that I'll be out literally a day and a night ^^ I'm thinking ISO 100 will probably be a limiting factor in the hours where I could get by without a tripod using a 400 ISO film. Does that make sense?

Hey all!
I'll be participating in the Stockholm Photo Marathon this year. Basically, this means taking one photo per hour for 24 hours straight. In a weak moment I decided to participate in the analog group, meaning I'll be using my LX and a single roll of film, 24 exposures. No more, no less.
So yeah... Could you guys recommend some good film types for such general use? Both color and B&W suggestions are fine and price per roll doesn't really matter much. I usually use TMAX, Portra and Superia.
Thanks!
Edit to clarify:
- I'm free to use a 36 exposure roll as long as there's exactly 24 exposures on it when I hand it in.
- The roll will be developed by a lab.
- No pushing, pulling or cross processing is allowed.

Hey all!
I recently bought a winder for my LX, but it doesn't seem to be working. Looking at the manual it seems I should simply attach it, cock the winding lever once and the winder should wind the film from then on. However, it doesn't do that in either C or S mode even though the LED lights up green. I have to keep using the cocking lever to wind the film, making the winder useless. Could someone help me troubleshoot?
Thanks!

So here are some example shots with the Portra 400NC. I used my Pentax LX along with the Pentax-A 35-105 f/3.5 at f/8. I started at ISO 100 and moved my way all the way to ISO 800 or so with each shot in the sequence being one one stop slower than the one previous. I think from these four shots we can conclude that these rolls should be exposed at around ISO 100, but they will contain a large amount of grain. They don't seem to have shifted colors though, so that's nice at least! If anyone wants to check out the full roll (with most shots taken at ISO 260), check it out here.
