28th September, 2014. I was on my route back home while a huge thunderstorm suddenly hit my city (finally proved the biggest one went across in 2014). So I started to search for a good lookout. But the first wave got away soon, I stayed there for a while, finding another one may be coming from the far west, I set up the camera facing the north-west, waited for about an hour or two and, finally took this photo. This lighting striked through the clouds directly on a very near-by building.
It may not be a good-looking image, but I still think I was in great luck to capture it, and it makes my best in 2014. XD |

Glad to hear that you like the city's culture besides its poor air condition, and thanks for the comment! ---------- Post added 12-20-14 at 02:39 PM ----------
that's correct, for everytime a strom or a cold wave hit the area, we will get a super-clear sky (that's really a blue sky, I mean) soon, but not long enough.
I believe it's exactly because of the weather patterns you described.
and thanks, I will make some shots as soon as it become clear again. ---------- Post added 12-20-14 at 02:50 PM ----------
ahh..sorry my bad..(:P).right it's eastern. The haze in Beijing is much more stronger than Nanjing (many low-visibility days reported in 2014 in BJ, sometime the visibility is even lower than 50m..), or I have to say that, many areas of the northern China suffer more from it than any other part of the country..

Actually it 'was' a beatiful city...and, it may still be a cute city only when the weather is good, full of ancient stories, as one of the ancient capitals in China ---------- Post added 12-18-14 at 11:24 PM ----------

unfortunatelly..yes, the so called 'haze' appears in western China these years is truely a serious environmental problem..
sometimes if it is in critical level, you just go out and will find it like what's in the images...

that's right.and I sometimes also use the trap focus trick when shooting moving objects, which can't be done with k-01 system.however, i think, without the peak focus mode in live view is a disadvantage on k-5's manual focus

wow, those noise in the background make your photo film-styled! I may also try this sometime.
and these flowers are obviously not common in anywhere near my home... ---------- Post added 12-14-14 at 12:25 AM ----------
thanks, i took the first one with f/2.0, and for the first time i realized how difficult it is to focus a moving flower manually..

Thanks! Pentax‘s MF lenses are mostly small in sizes, which is the most important point I perfer. Since already have many things in my backpack when hiking, I really don't want any more giant-monsters with me..:P ---------- Post added 12-14-14 at 12:14 AM ----------
Thanks, buddy!

Hello everybody!
I'm a Pentax-lover from China, and, pretty new to photography.
I tried a Pentax K-01 for several months and traded it with a K-5 because of feeling unstable without my head against the camera.
During the last year I had learned some of the basics and got my first M series prime-lens, trying to replace the 18-55 one. Since there's not much users nor info. of these old things in my local network forums, I'm joining this forum and hoping to learn more about photography. Also, viewing more shooting styles all over the world.
