My experience: My mode dial cap came off a few months after I bought my K01 in 2012. I consulted the local vendor (in Kota Kinabalu Sabah, Malaysia) as to whether he had any super glue or some easy fixes to attach it back. He said no, and had my camera sent back to the main agent in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). It took a month before I was able to get back the camera. When I asked if Pentax would automatically extend my warranty by a month, the vendor's technician concerned flatly said no. (He ought to have sought clarification from Pentax: poor service!). Luckily, my replaced dial mode is still OK after a laps of close to 4 years.

Been a Pentax user since the '70s. Will be great to have a red devil in my collection to keep company with my MX, 110 Auto, K10d and K01.

My mode dial also came off 3 months or so after I bought my K01. I thought the problem was due to the tropical atmosphere in Sabah (Malaysia). I took it back to the vendor in Kota Kinabalu and he said that it was not a glue problem. He had to send my K01 1,500 km away to KL for re-fixing. That procedure took away a month of my warranty coverage. I asked the vendor about extending my warranty coverage and all I got was a rude look from his staff!

You can shoot episode by episode. Imagine in the old days when you have to change your reel of 8mm movie film every 5 minutes! By contrast, having 16 minutes of videoing is a blessing.

For a moment you gave me a chill, as I intend to get my K-01 soon, and I shall be using my old manual lenses a lot!

Should be very useful when I finally get my hand on a K-01. Things (Pentax cameras) are moving very slowly here in Sabah, Malaysia. I have yet to see a K-01 on the shelf. May have to get one from the Internet....

It is interesting to read the review and comments. Alas, for me in this part of the world (Sabah, Malaysian) it will probably take months after its launch in the US for the K01 to show up in shops in Sabah. By the time I get my hand on one, probably the launch of the K02 will have been announced.....

I do not mind owning a K01 to complement my K10. It is less painful on my back or shoulders at less than 0.5 kg; it is less painful on my pocket at less than US$ 800. Above all, it will give me the joys of owning a set of K10/01 cameras!

If you can afford to own 2 Pentax DSLR, surely you can afford a proper film/slide scanner. Try one of those in the Canon 86xx series. You should get more fun and better results using a scanner built for the job. Before I bought my Canon 8600F, I tried projecting my slides/negatives on t my screen with an old slide projector and then snapping the images with a P&S. For properly exposed films/slides, I could get reasonably good results. But they were no match against those done with my Canon 8600F later.

Thumbs up for Eric! Wish I have an Eric here. I live amongst headhunters in Borneo, a 12-hr+ time zones away from Eric. The chances of me sending my Pentax MX & lenses to him for repair will be very remote. In the absence of a local Eric here, I have to take preventive measures all the times. All my camera gears must be returned to their sealed boxes containing silica gels after use. I have kept up with this practice for more than 35 years....

Another post of Dad, this time posing with mum. It was taken by dad's friend, using dad's simple Kodak box camera (A Brownie?) It is scanned from the original negative. I always wonder as to how those 70-year+ old negatives managed to survive so well. They were just kept in ordinary paper negative jackets.

Here is a post of my dad. This portrait was done professionally, and the image is scanned from the original glass-plate negative. It was taken some 70 years ago! :)

Yea. A flat bed negative/film/slide comes with a the appropriate light attached to the scanner's cover. I use a Canon 8600F to do the job.

Nope: The lake at the Sandakan Rainforest Discovery Centre, next to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. It is located in the north of the Borneo Island (Sabah State, Malaysia).
