Maybe you can setup 2 custom users mode adjacent to each other with type 1 and type 3 ? Test it.

I shot the cricket match with type 3, sensitivity at 5. Extended large or medium AF zone. I had good amount of keepers but it is my 1st time shooting sports so not sure how well I did.

Is 70-200 somewhat limiting in range ? The game i shot had a smaller ground but for normal sized ground I think I will need close to 150-450 type range.

i had seen that video. i understood your reasoning but i was curious if others have had the same experience or anything different

1. Tracking -1 in AF.C, using AF points with the AE meter(? is that correct to call it), is that useful in any scenario ? if pentax has given us this option it must work at least under some circumstance i hope.

I went to a local Cricket tournament yesterday. Used K3 Mark III and 55-300 PLM. Any poor Results are due to my lack of skill, and i got to learn a lot by this experience. At times i wish i had fixed 2.8, although if use something like 70-200, the reach at long end is less compared to what i needed at the games.

Should we open a thread in general photography where everyone can discuss techniques/skills required for action/sports photography ? or continue here

In focus sensitivity, is 3 or 5 better ? In AF.C, how are the results of everyone when using either of them ?

And is tracking 1(AF linked to AE) better than 3(using AF to track intensively )in any scenario ?

Ok thanks, i am actually trying to decide if i should get a telephoto lens and if i did, would i be able to find use for it.

Looking at specs and weight of such lenses, i sometimes fear that i will not be able to use it as much as i though.

For people who shoot with heavy zoom lenses like 150-450 or the 70-200, or DA 300

If not using for wildlife or birds, what other scenarios do you get to use such lens ?
Despite the weight and handling issue, what motivates you to find use for them ?

Maybe get a old(out of production/vintage) 35 mm lens till you get used to what focal length you feel happy with. I don't have this lens - 20-40 mmLtd but it feels like a useful lens to get to shooting style.

They might try designing the telephoto zoom with maybe PLM( if it can generate torque) , AW sealing and in-lens stabilization which combines with in body stabilization.
Recently using the 55-300 and I can notice shaky hands more on the long zoom.

For DFA 50 1.4, you might end up looking for even more expensive or better rated filter.

All metal construction lens

The DFA 50 is very good, although I am not used to its Bokeh, especially in low light.

I was thinking to get a cheap metal lens just for sake of having something to hold and to keep for a long period of time. I know it's weird but when i am at home, working on images, it sometimes feel good to hold the rikenon.
All metal obviously I mean for the barrel and all !!! EXCEPT for the glass.

Are there any currently sold lens which are all metal (except the glass part) ?

I recently got the DFA 50 1.4 but the finish and hood is plastic and doesn't feel good in my hand. I have a old rikenonnxr 50 1.7 which feels very good to hold and operate.

Is the 20-40 ltd all metal ?

I got it and am using it. Do you recalibrate it every time going to a new location?

It does not catch signal indoors, but the mobile phone gps does work. Not sure if the mobile phone gps is not updated indoors or what.

AF.C in live view

No, in live view, if you click the AF mode button and use rear dial, the options are Zone select, tracking etc. Switching between AF.S and AF.C is seen only in viewfinder/OVF.

also if i am in Liveview, i can not change setting in menu for viewfinder- AF.S or AF.C.

I can't figure out, is AF.C not available in live view or is it by default AF.C

Mostly for cases when flash is hot shoe mounted
