Sorry, should have specified, I have owned both in my former Nikon kit, the confusion for me is that I used them both about equally, I know they both have there strengths and weaknesses, but having them both is definitely the aim. The vote seems to be for the 35mm so I that is what I will do and start saving for the 55mm 1.9:)
I like the idea of adding some manual lenses to my kit, my first DSLR was a Nikon D50 and a Soligor 80-200 beast that was M only, I love that lens. Still have it around here somewhere.....I also have a couple other Soligor lenses that I am unsure of what mount they are. If I post pics, could the Pentax experts maybe give a me a clue?

Someone toss a coin and decide for me please!!!
I am buying the K3 with the 18-135mms kit, but desperately need a prime in my collection as the kit lens is okay for all around shooting but will not satisfy creatively. I really wanted the 43mm but it is out for right now,I can buy the 50 or 35 for less then $200 so that is what I am thinking. I like the 50 as it is faster, but I prefer the wider focal length of the 35. I am a hobbyist, I love abstract photography, taking pics of my kids, doing the occasional pet shoot and everything in between depending on my mood. Not really into sports shooting or trekking after big game though. Decide for me please. Many Thanks.

Once upon a time at the beach, I spotted a Pentax K-3 across a sandcastle, it was a moment. Beautiful. The world fell still. I was in love.
I am a former Nikon owner, a year and a half ago I sold all my gear due to the fact that I was broke and needed money for food and other stuff, like gas.
Happily things have improved, and I MUST have a DSLR again, I have a Panasonic Lumix, nice little thing, but just does not help me feel fulfilled as enthusiastic, hobbyist photographer:)
Of course I was going to buy another Nikon, till that fateful day on the beach, fortunately my magic mirror (google) told me that the Pentax was more then just good looks.
I am now trying to figure out the complex labyrinth of Pentax lenses and which to start my happily ever after with, I am leaning towards the 35mm, because that was my favorite walk about lense on my Nikon.....but we shall see. Where would I post my lense queries?
I look forward to learning many good things from you all.
