yeah , looking at these photos , I take a lot more macros/ people shots then I realized , so yeah maybe i should go for the primes , and make up my mind on if i want a zoom later , don't really need it , and plus , I've still got the 70-210 for Events anyway , thanks for helping me make a decision , so by the sounds , the primes are the go , but If i am taking shots at sports or events in the future , might get another zoom then.

One last thing , I can't help noticing that you guys are preferring the primes that are slightly wider than a 50 mm , what are the advantages of these lenses? better landscape shots? , can take in more?

Yeah , you do have a point there , I guess right now , I tend to take portraits/macro more right , so maybe i could purchase the primes , and then purchase another zoom later when i want to do landscapes?

a few months ago , I managed to get my hands on the original K5 , and purchased a cheap $30 old 70-210 manual lens until i could afford better (I don't have a job at the moment) However , Now that Christmas has rolled around I have some money , But I'm torn on what to do as It's only $400 AUS

Initially , the idea was to purchase a Pentax smc DA 50mm prime , and the Rikinon 85mm prime.

However , Now , I have my eyes Cast Towards the Pentax 55-300 HD. this lens has been praised by quite a few people

Now I'm not sure if I want two primes , Or a really nice weather proof zoom , as there are pros and cons to both Items
(eg primes are better quality at their fixed focal length)

I mean right now I feel like all 3 , It would be nice if you guys could give me a few tips and recommendations so I can make up my mind.

PS , here are the Items at the prices They are currently , if you guys find a better price , That'd be handy too

Pentax smc DA 50mm f/1.8 Lens | DigiDIRECT Australia

Amazon.com : Rokinon 85M-P 85mm f/1.4 Aspherical Lens for Pentax (Black) : Camera Lenses : Camera & Photo

Pentax HD DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED WR Lens | Lenses Dirt Cheap Cameras

cheers , hope you guys can help me out
