Remove it, toss it..cut a proper length & width of velcro (before tossing, use it to measure), that has sticky backing already. Your choice..either the "fuzzy", or the "hooks".
Like duct tape..velcro has many uses...

Grabbed a used "Excellent +" condition K5 from Adorama...just couldn't resist...had to have...it might be destined to be modded for Astro use...will have to check the shutter count upon receipt to see how "used" it actually is...also snagged a Mitakon Zhongyi Creator 135mm f2.8 Ver II manual focus lens that was listed as a "demo" ...not sure of how good that lens might be for "normal" photo's, yet it will fill a "gap" in the Astro selection...:D

How about these...good enough?
P.S. and to note, yes I ride year round, yet I may be dumb, yet not stupid, so given inclement weather conditions, the motorcycles will stay put & I will join the caged hoardes..

As far as a true motorcyclist is concerned (and I'm a true motorcyclist, ie;one who rides year round & just not on the weekends, or during "nice weather")...ALL cage drivers are "crazy" & a hazard......even more now days with the fart phone stupidity & ifotainment stupid systems in most cages...

Perhaps the right side also? The partial cabinet looking thing distracts a bit..

Try changing the ISO, exp time & shutter opening. It will take some experimenting, yet will be worth it in the long run. Best not to just settle on one setting..play around..

When capturing Asto (lot's of semi-long exposures), & for say 6-8 hours of darkness in moderate temps, the K5ii would use up two, perhaps three bat's for extended sessions like that.

Posted also in the Astrophotography Group.
Took this w/ the K5ii on 9-2-16 @ 22:35 local. Used the Pentax DA/FE 10-17 3.5-4.5 lens @ f/4.5 set @ 10mm (lower foreground cropped). 120s, 3200iso. Used an I-Optron tracker. White Lighted foreground while exposing.... |

Seems extra batteries would be the less expensive option..as well as leaving off the "bulk" of the grip...probably could carry 4 (or more) xtra regular bat's for less than 1/2 the price of a grip & save the weight/bulk @ the same time..........
P.S. ..that's what I do....(though it probably won't/doesn't matter to those who are "grip happy')..............

I'm in the use a UV filter (for protection) camp..it takes no time to remove when shooting...sometimes I'll leave it on depending on conditions...always remove when shooting Astro..

Any "PRO" would never degrade -or- "talk trash" about one's selection of choice...this show's that they are not "PRO" at all...just another amature thinking they're a "PRO"..typical human looser...

ASCOM is for Mount control, some focuser's and dedicated (CCD) astro camera's...it's NOT for DSLR's. More on ASCOM here: ASCOM - Standards for Astronomy
Canon and Nikon DSLR's can be controlled using Backyard EOS, or Backyard NIK O'Telescope
Stark-Labs: Home has software (Nebulosity) for some DSLR control (NO Pentax), Image processing, and guiding (PHD).
If you want to use your Pentax, you will have to either use the built in intervalometer, or the wired one as DeadJohn has suggested.
So, to answer your question, NO, Nebulosity will not control your Pentax, yet may be able to stack and register the files acquired by the Pentax (as DeadJohn points out).
Personally, I use Deep Sky Stacker DeepSkyStacker - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com for stacking from Pentax & Canon files, and Photoshop CS6 for processing.

This is what can be accomplished with experience (time invested.) Normally, I use a "modded" Canon 500D (T1i) for doing astro work, yet wanted to produce something with my un-modded K5ii. Did use an Astronomics CLS filter (2" screw on), that was attached to a coma corrector. An 8" f/4 Schmidt-Newtonian was the "lens". The mount/scope were also guided using a seperate mini-scope and guide camera. This is numerous images from various exposure times (10) @ 90s & (10) @ 180s @800iso w/the best 70% "stacked" together. The core has been layered over using shorter exposure times. A "synthetic" luminance (grayscale) layer was also used to enhance some of the details. Manually focused on a bright star, using the live view "zooming" function.
