Thanks for your reply. I'll compare weights of K20 with K3. Shouldn't be to much of an issue though.

Thanks all for your replies,
pathdog, I have a Pentax16-45mm, a Sigma DG 70-300mm and a Sigma 105mm DGMacro. Live in South Australia. Climate here can be hot in summer and I go bush a bit, where it can be dusty. Head to NZ from time to time, family in South Island, and that can be cold and snow. I do like zooming in on things, not to excited by shooting broad landscapes.

I'm looking for a zoom lense that I can pull out quickly when I don't have the time to change lenses etc. I really test the patience of my husband when we go anywhere together and I want to shoot something. I also love doing macro while out and about, so I thought the Sigma 18-200 macro might be helpful on such ocassions as mentioned, although I know it wouldn't be the same as my dedicated macro lense. I read some reviews in Camera Shopper comparing superzoom lenses, including Canon, Nikon, Tamron, Olympus, Panasonic, and the Sigma came out best. It's light weight also.
I was concerned that the Pentax 18-135mm WR wouldn't really be long enough for some shots but I don't really want anything longer than the 200mm. Have to drag out the tripod then anyway.

Any other thoughts?

Are people happy with the Pentax K3? I've read about a few issues but hope they are sorted by now.

Thanks again. Any input welcome.

I've given up struggling with my K20D which has been having problems and I've sent it off several times for repairs to no avail.
Been saving my dollars and am looking at the K3. Also thinking of getting a Sigma 18-200mm DC macro as an all rounded travel lens.
Has any on used that lens on the K3? Going for the K3 rather than K3 ii as I occasionally use a flash.
Any thoughts? Any problems?:)

Thanks for everyones help. I've been reading camera reviews. The K5 and K5 II's looks nice! Where have I been! (I guess my camera was doing fine so I haven't been looking.)
Does anyone have experience with the K3. Wondering what they are like.
The lenses I use are Pentax 16-45, Sigma 105mm 1:2.8 DG macro, and Sigma 70-300mm DG. I'm having problems with all the lenses.
I also have cleaned everything including the sensor ring on the camera. That is what they replaced which was supposed to fix my previous problem.

Hi everyone.
Have had issues with my K20D. Had it looked at and a new sensor ring put on and now can't change the lens without taking it on and off a number of times. The Pentax people say they will look at it again for me ... another 6 weeks without the camera as it has to go interstate (Australia).
I'm thinking that maybe the customer service is pretty bad here, or the techs don't know what they are doing. Even thinking of moving away from the Pentax fold ... and I have loved the K20D, for my next camera, if I can't be convinced that another Pentax is worth getting. It seems like I'll be having to get another soon.
Any recommendations? (I'm not a pro but I do exhibit and sell a bit of my work. Budget it also limited. If I get a new Pentax camera I'm concerned that my lenses won't work with it.

Help! K20D problems.

Over the last few months I have been having issues with my K20D.
The accuracy of the auto focus has become dodgy regardless of the lens I use and I have resorted to manual focus which I'm having difficulty with.
Also I am having trouble with when I set the aperture, the shutter speed the camera selects ends shutter up really underexposing or overexposing the shot.
I've tried taking two consecutive shots of the same thing with the same aperture and ended up with completely different shutter speeds despite the lighting not altering.
It does a similar thing when I set the shutter speed and the camera calculates the aperture.
On my last trip I ended up having to use total manual settings.
I've had the camera for 4 years or so and haven't had this problem before. Also I cleaned the connectors between lense and camera.
I'm not sure what to do about it and whether it is worth taking it somewhere to get it fixed.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'd appreciate some advice.

I particularly like the composition of this one. I shy away from the central 'thing' myself but it works really well here.

My camera is doing ok but I'm not too excited with the focus and tend to go manual a lot. I like the sturdiness of it.
I'll have to check out some of the prices over here in Australia as it seems we pay more here. Warranties become an issue if purchasing from overseas.
I'll have a hunt around.
Thanks for all the input. Appreciated!

Hi ! I have had my K20D for quite some time now but have just joined the forum. I have been wondering whether I should upgrade my camera but don't really know if there is one better than the K20D that doesn't have a professional price tag. Any suggestions or would be better to stick to what I have?:)
