Well, no idea for artistic effect, like adding actual film grain, is crazy. But I think it's a weird idea.

It is normal. 96% of your photo is black and therefore not much data is needed for the JPEG.

There is a big difference between the shooting aperture at F14 and the wide open aperture at F14. The camera focuses wide open at F2.8 and then stops down to shoot

Why?
Why does creating an image have to require "the satisfaction of mastering the craft"? What benefit is there to keeping people out of photography, to deny them a chance to express themselves, because they don't need to overcome the challenges you did?
This is nothing more than the eternal complaint that the kids these days don't have it has hard as we did. I have no doubt that those same gatekeeping complaints apply to every advance you've listed as a virtue, and more besides. Autofocus? Autoexposure? All 'soulless'. All 'the camera does everything for you'. Digital is too perfect. Colour photography is vulgar. Yet here we are, still being creative and expressive.
It doesn't matter if the camera has soul. It matters that the photographs do. If you're concerned about photography becoming sterile, then we should all embrace it becoming more accessible to more people with different backgrounds and experiences.

With respect, I'd be much more worried about all my cameras hanging in a vulnerable location on a single hook (that could fail), where they could knock against each other as in your second photo.
Also I never use a strap, I find they snag on things too easily and yank it out of my grip. But then I am clumsy ;(.
Have you had a strap fail?
Perhaps a poll on the matter would be enlightening?

I've been a pentax user for the last 45 years starting off with the Pentax MX, LX, Kr, K1, K1 Mrk II and have been through a number of Pentax lenses including the 150-450mm. However, I'm noticing that Pentax or Ricoh are not keeping up with the competition. If one looks at Nikon and Canon they have produced in recent years first class mirrorless cameras with very good focusing for sport and wildlife. Apart from that, their lenses apart from being expensive are also excellent. Pentax has remained years behind this technology and is not doing anything to keep up with competiition. Frankly, I think that Ricoh are not interested in keeping the Pentax brand up to scratch with the current technology and little by little they they are moving away from competition until the brand is dead and clients can just shift brands if they want to up their cameras with the available technology. If one were to look at the telephotos. the last long lenses they produced were years ago. Apart from the 150-450mm, the only alternative they have is the 560mm massive lens. Does Ricoh have a strategy for the Pentax brand or its just a work in progress which leads to nowhere? The technology is improving on a daily basis while on this side of the fence, they are still fast asleep albeit some of you are contemplating a K1 Mrk III which would probabaly be a marketing exercise.

"It really irks me when people can't be bothered to get their facts right. It's lazy 'journalism'"
Well, he got his facts right, this is what Ricoh states about the Monochrome: "Although there is no production limit for the PENTAX K-3 Mark III Monochrome, it will be produced only in small quantities at a time,".

It is. This is just the classic way of giving nonanswers. If they were clear, people would stop buying the soon-to-be-discontinued system, leaving them with the unsold stock.

I think that aperture lever is bent. The lever must engage correctly with the mechanism in the camera, and ther isn't really any leeway. Indeed, attempting to use a lens/tc with a bent out of true lever could easily damage your camera!
Personally I would junk that soligor. If you shop around you can pick up a 2x AF tc relatively cheaply. In any case, 2x tc's really dont work very well with the sort of zoom lens you have it on - too slow F6.3 at 300mm means that + tc will be approx f14!

It's like you've been dropped on to Earth from some strange alien planet where all photographers are Ansel Adams, carrying around giant cameras on tripods mounted to the roof of their car. There are no snapshots or street shooting, nobody takes photos of sports or wildlife. Everyone dodges and burns to get their 3m-on-a-side landscapes just right. A world where camera manufacturers ignore the wants and needs of 99.99% of Earth photographers and just concentrate on this tiny, ultra-high-resolution niche.
You have to know that many of the recent advances of newer cameras are tailored to sports and action and wildlife shooting, but for some reason you judge these action cameras solely by the criteria you have for 8x10 view cameras and massive prints. It's like you're an automotive writer who is continually amazed and cranks out angry reviews about how disappointing it is that new Ferraris and Porsches can't haul a ton of fill dirt or carry eleven passengers.

The image is captured with aperture of f/22 which is past the diffraction limit. So you loose detail by stopping down the aperture that much.
You most likely get most detailed shots with aperture between f/5.6 - f/8. If you need more DOF than that you can use focus stacking.

It's likely that the AF just focused on the branches rather than the moving target and depth of field saved your picture.

Agree to disagree. :) I see cameras like 6D, D610, D780 or A7 III as consumer cameras. I see cameras like R5, D850, Z7 or A7R IV to be oriented to above average photographers (financially speaking) and A1, 1Dx, D6 oriented to a much smaller audience with specific needs.
Same with medium format. You have consumer cameras like 645z, Fuji GFX and then you have those 30000$ Phase One and Hasselblad cameras oriented to photographers with specific needs.

Peter, I think you and I get on pretty well, so please could I ask a small, personal favour? Can I respectfully appeal to your better nature in easing off on the Sony ridicule with this "$" / "$$$" reference in so many of your related posts (96 of them, no less :o)? As you know, some of us here - myself included - shoot Sony in addition to Pentax... indeed, a few members shoot only Sony. You may personally believe Sony gear is expensive, but I don't feel it's warranted or helpful to the community to bash any brand (which is presumably why we have a forum rule that precludes it). Having made your point, might we move on? :o Thanks in advance for your consideration, mate ;)

Regarding this new adapter, any of the A7, A7R and A7S series from the MkII onwards, the A7C, A6100 through 6500, A9 and A9 MkII - bodies ranging in price from GBP £600 to £4700 - should pair equally well with it. My humble (inexpensive ;)) A7 MkII is as good a candidate as any, but I'll be waiting for comprehensive reviews and long-term ownership reports before I consider buying one. It needs to be way, way better than the TechArt Pro in build quality, operation and integration for me to be convinced of parting with my money. Which reminds me... I must get my barely-used TechArt Pro onto eBay...
