Very nice shots. I'm about to move back to New England from Oregon, and shots like this make me excited to be back home!

Great shots, especially the picture of the falls. Iceland is pretty darn near the top of places I am dying to visit.

The first picture is very nice, a photo of which to be proud. The images of the city are great as well, nice work!

This shot was taken in North Cascades National Park, just off the highway. One of the most under rated parks in the country. I shot this with my Pentax MX, using Kodak Ektar 100 ISO film, then "scanned" with my wife's digital camera.
I'm just getting back into photography for the first time since high school, so any critiques are welcome!

Abiqua Falls in Oregon. Shot using Pentax MX and Velvia 50 slide film, then photographed the slide with my wife's Nikon D5100.

Yeah, looking into it a bit more it looks like they discontinued it. Good to know the X-tra scans well! I picked some up, so we'll see how it works out.

Hey guys I was looking around at some Flickr accounts and saw some posts dedicated to Fuji Superia 400. I thought they were all beautiful and had to get some. I went down to my local shop and all they had was Superia X-tra. Is that really any different than plain Superia? Roes anyone have any experience with both they can discuss?

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share an app that I have found really useful to keep track of the data for each shot I take with my film cameras. This way I can look back at the settings I used, lens, lighting, etc. Its called Memento Database, I use it on Android but I am pretty sure its at least also available for iOS and maybe windows phone. It let's you create custom databases with whatever fields you want. There's a ton of templates out there, but I couldn't find any for photography so I made my own. If anyone else thinks this will be useful, I van send them a copy of my template. Here's some screenshots showing how to input the data, and what it looks like when its collected. I hope someone else finds this useful too :-) |

Sorry to quote the OP from 4 years ago, but is this saying that the K5 stacks automatically??? As someone who has done astrophotography with a 13" Celestron, this would be HUGE.

OR Resident here, its Cannon Beach so Pentaxes are totally allowed! And I also prefer the 2nd crop, but I like the color from the first photo better. The blues are too deep in my opinion on pic 2.

Well apparently his rush service is very quick. I shipped the camera last Friday, received his quote and paid for his service on Monday, and I got the camera in the mail yesterday (Thursday)! A six day turn around time is awesome! And the camera looks great. Very satisfied.

Thanks, Chris. I just took it down to my local camera shop and had the guy there take a look, apparently he was some head Pentax repair guy in their Colorado facility years ago, and he said they definitely didn't replace the foam. He did it for just 5 bucks, which saves me the hassle of having to ship it back out. Crisis averted!

Hi Everyone,
I am relatively new to film, and just bought my first SLR, a Pentax MX, off of Craigslist (only 40 bucks!). It seemed to be in pretty good shape, just needed to get the mirror foam replaced--it was falling out just by touching it--so I sent it away for a good ol' CLA. When I got it back it looked great, super clean, the meter was responsive, and the shutter seemed snappy at high speeds. I was stoked. Then I removed the lens and looked at it the mirror foam to see how it looked, and I was a bit surprised. It is completely flush with the metal surrounding it. It also feels firm, unlike the new light seal foam on the back of the film door. That is springy and soft. Is this normal? I thought the mirror foam was supposed to stick out a bit. As it is now, I don't know if the foam is really preventing the mirror from hitting the metal, which I would think is the whole point.

Has anyone ever paid for Eric's rush service? I asked him to rush it and it cost me 20 bucks, but I am not sure how long it will take, he didn't really say. Does anyone have any recent experience with that?
