^ Yes & I have a feeling that every single remaining K-70 was built on January 2021 or later. They should be trouble free. :D

I know what you mean about the heft & bulk. About a month ago I took the K-3II, D-BG5 grip, & the DA* 16-50mm PLM to Disneyland & carried it all for about 16 hours straight. I have bigger biceps now. Hahaha! :p
It was worth it, though.
I can only imagine what it would be like to carry around a K-1II, D-BG6 grip, & D FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 for 16 hours straight.

I've been spoiled by the DA* lenses. I only have the latest 2. They have some insanely good image quality. If Ricoh had already revamped the DA* 50-135mm f/2.8, the DA* 60-250mm f/4, & the rest of the DA* lineup, I would've already bought them by now. The DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 PLM gets used the most on my K-3II, but it does get switched out with the DA* 11-18mm from time to time.
I like my SMC DA Limited primes as well. I mainly use them on the K-50. It's usually for slow take my time photography that involves static subjects. There's a certain a "je ne sais quoi" about those lenses, but the 2 that I use the most are the 21mm & the 70mm. The 21mm practically lives on the K-50.

SMC DA Limited 15mm f/4. Very nice. Same with the SMC DA Limited 21mm f/3.2.
I imaginge that DFA 21mm f/2.8 is still better optically.

The only way I buy used is if the item is at least 20% less than the cost of new when it's on sale & it's also in excellent condition.
In example, an item that normally sells for $1,200 goes on sale for $1,000. That means that I'd pay no more than $800 used for it. Quite often I see used items selling too close to the cost of new. Not much of an incentive. I'd rather pay a little more to get it new.

Nay! But I do wish them success & that those who buy one end up enjoying it a lot. :D
I'm still waiting for that DA* 50-135mm f/2.8 update. Hahaha! :p

Nay! Although I do have fond memories of shooting film, once I went digital in 2005 & saw how much easier everything was, I made up my mind that I would be going digital from there on out & never shoot film again. I am happy that film still exists & that people are happy shooting it. I do enjoy seeing their photos, but film is not for me. :p

^ Hahahaha! I'll probably end up getting one by the end of this year. My K-3II only has about a 20,000 shutter count. It's still fairly brand spanking new. :p

MAJOR UPDATE!
This is a major update. You will need to have RawTherapee 5.10 installed in your system by getting it directly from their website, updating your Linux distribution, or by downloading a Windows 64bit version from my Google Drive. These PP3 files are meant to be used with RawTherapee 5.10 or later. Some of the PP3 files will not work with version 5.9 or earlier (unless you have an older dev version that has the new compatibility enhancements).
I strongly suggest that you remove all RawTherapee versions before installing 5.10. Do backup your old PP3 files & any other settings like dynamicprofile.cfg that you want to save, just in case.
With that being said, there is now more compatibility between Windows & Linux than ever before. My guess is that Mac OS is the same. Sorry, not a Mac user myself. The installation instructions are in the zip file. In a nutshell, you will have to now make a folder/directory for the .dcp files & point to it in RawTherapee. Here's the quick method for that. - Copy the Camera profiles directory to wherever you please.
- Open up RawTherapee, go to Preferences > Image Processing & scroll down to Camera profiles directory.
- Point it that to the Camera profiles directory you just copied into your system.
This is for all Windows, Linux, & Mac OS installations. If not, the PP3 files that utilize the .dcp files will not work at all.
For those of you that own a K-01, K-30, K-50, K-500, K-5, K-5II, K-5IIs, K-3, & K-3II, you're in for a treat. I'm now very close to the Pentax color science when using Natural, Bright, Landscape, & Vibrant. Portrait is still weird. If you compare the RawTherapee outputs to DCU5 outputs, you'll see that it's almost dead on in terms of color science. I'd say that it's about 98% close to the Pentax color science, compared to what I would consider 85% close previously. Portrait is like 2% close to Pentax color science. I don't think Adobe ever nailed it. I also have some PP3 color files that utilize the Tone Equalizer module as well.
For you 16MP owners, use the K-50 color profiles. For those of you using the 24MP K-3 cameras, use the K-3II profiles. Mind you that I'm not using D-range settings. If you use D-range settings, you'll probably be disappointed with the exposure, contrast, brightness, & color in many images. I'll eventually get to the rest of the cameras, but since I own a K-50 & a K-3II, those get most of my attention.
OK! Remember to backup your old PP3 files & anything else that you might want to save before deleting them. Here are the links. 2024-02-22 windows linux mac - PP3 & DCP Google Drive - Windows 64bit build & HaldCLUT download
Have fun!

Been playing around with 5.10. It has even greater compatibility between Windows & Linux. I'm gonna guess Mac OS too. I basically don't have to script separate Linux files anymore. Once the Camera profiles directory is set in Preferences > Image Processing in any operating system, RawTherapee will automatically find the DCP file that was used. Doesn't matter what operating it was set in, as long as the folder/directory structure is the same in all operating systems.
For example, I can make a folder/directory anywhere in my system & called it whatever I want. Doesn't matter what it's called as long as I point RawTherapee to that folder/directory. Now I can dump the additional DCP files in there. I typically use a folder/directory named Pentax DCP & have the DCP files inside that folder.
Windows path: :\\Pentax DCP
Linux path: /Pentax DCP
RawTherapee will not lose the link to the DCP file used. I'll be re-scripting many PP3 files that use Adobe .dcp files during the next few days.
The same can be done with Adobe .lcp file for lens corrections. You set a folder/directory for them & they won't get lost in any operating system.
Good stuff!

The K-70 inherited the same autofocus system from the K-5II/5IIs, has KAF4 compatibility, slightly better SR, slightly better OVF magnification, slightly stronger screw drive motor, & has better high ISO performance to boot. If you do buy used, you'll want one that was built on January 2021 or later to avoid the possible solenoid issue.
There's also the K-3 & K-3II, but high ISO is not their forte. They're far better spec'd than the other bodies, but high ISO image quality does leave bit to be desired. Even though I find my K-3II to be quite usable to ISO 12800, I do try to avoid going past ISO 3200 as much as I possibly can.

^ This. The lack of KAF4 compatibility is the main reason that I never got a K-5IIs.
Don't get me wrong. The K-5IIs is a mighty fine camera, but since you already have a K-50, the experience will be fairly similar. The image quality is a bit better, but it's not that much better. The autofocus is slightly better in low light situations, but not that much better. You'd probably be better served by a used or new K-70 that was built on January 2021 or later.

^ That Tone Equalizer module has an insane amount of exposure control. It appeared in the dev 5.9 version a while ago. Been using that with the Adobe Bright .dcp file for my K-50 & K-3II photos. You can pull some pretty insane exposure results with it. Good stuff! https://www.rawtherapee.com/downloads/5.10/ |

Hold the OK button down for a second or so. It'll switch back to normal. Hit ISO button to change ISO. When done, press OK for a second again to switch to selection point.

^ I usually uninstall the version before in Windows. On Linux, I just stay at the mercy of the software center. I've done the appimage & compiling installations, but they end up having their own quirks. I just wait until the developers bring in the next version.
I'm gonna have to read up on the updates. Hopefully it's not much of a hassle updating directories & whatnot. Version 6 will pretty much break everything once it eventually comes out. That will be a whole can of worms then.
Cool. Sounds like they're chugging along with issue corrections.

^ I still have a feeling that something is not making contact & more than likely it's something in the 50/1.8 lens. Maybe a slightly bent pin? I'm quite certain that the lens is compatible with that camera.

I went from a K-50 to a K-3II.
Pros: - Slightly better AF with semi-usable AF.C.
- Slightly better SR.
- Longer battery life.
- Far quieter shutter & up to 1/8000 shutter speed. The K-50 has a massive "THWACK" sound.
- Built like a tank. You can probably hammer nails with it.
- Easier to change camera settings.
- Astrophotography is a breeze with the GPS.
- Has a remote sensor in front & rear of camera.
- 2 SD card slots.
- Heavy lenses like the DA* 16-50mm f/2.8 PLM or the DA* 11-18mm f/2.8 DC balance better, particularly with the battery grip.
Cons: - Heavier, especially when mounting the battery grip & a heavy lens.
- Larger file sizes.
- Though the image quality is very nice, I do feel that it has more color noise at higher ISO than the K-50.
- You can't change any settings at all when mode control dial is set to "Green Mode". You're at the complete mercy of the camera. The K-50 allows you to change some settings when set to "AUTO".

I don't purposely go out to shoot in crazy weather, but I have been caught in heavy rain a few times.
Last year I went to an event where I knew we were going to be in heavy rain & I chanced the K-50 with the 18-55mm WR lens. I figured that if this combo failed, I wouldn't really care about it, since it was older gear that I wasn't using much. It was pouring like crazy the whole day & the camera got heavily drenched for at least 3 hours. No issues whatsoever & it still works fine today.
A couple of weekends ago, we had some heavy rain in SoCal. I happened to be in Disneyland with the K-3II, battery grip, & DA* 16-50mm PLM lens. Yeah. Heavy combo to be carrying at Disneyland the whole day. Hahaha! Out of nowhere, it started raining pretty hard. My gear got pretty wet for at least 2 hours. No issues, though. It just kept chugging along.
