I am just beginning to use DXO (5.2 with its FilmPack) on the DNG files from my recent K10D + DA 18-55 mm.
I processed a few photos (I uploaded on this site).
My first impressions are: good (but slow, especially on my not to big computer; DXO uses huge memory).
Also, DXO lets you prepare the work interactively and does it very well (with a permanent histogram where all modifications are showed in real time, with possibility of view before/after...). And then does the real work in a kind of batch (is long, but can be done on a set of prepared photos).
I was amazed by the use of perspective in order to get verticals and/or horizontals (I applied it in my landscape 'Sea Swamp' because the upper horizontals were'nt).
Also amazed by the suppression of some franges (applied it in the color version of my landscape 'A belgian farm).
So I am still experimenting but it seems to be full of promises for me!
One of my problems (nothing to do with some specific software) is:
how to downsize (and when) a 10Mpx photo and at the same time process it (sharpness, contrasts, colors etc.)?
If anyone has good ideas and experiments, more than welcome...
Best regards from Jan (jlomo)

Yes indeed, amazing difference in quality between your upload and the link!
The 'original' is well composed and gives a fine flower full of mood...
Best regards, Jan.

Thanks for the info. I am going to download the test version and compare with Gimp and UFRAW I use today, as well as the paid DXO software I bought online.

I use GIMP for my mainly JPG and TIFF image processing (also PhotoFiltre). When I want to start from RAW (and DNG). I just started to use UFRAW, looks quite well.
Worth mentioning: all those programs are free.
I also just bought DXO Pro (Standard) (150 EUR tax included from their site www.dxo.com): looks very nice processing the Pentax DNG files, it even knows some of it lenses.
UFRAW and DXO can process 14-bit per color images (GIMP cannot).
Much pleasure with RAW and DNG!
