problem with my K60

yeah, it's a K-50. My fat fingers hit the wrong button. Thanks for the replies. Already talked with the seller, they'll take it back. I've tried everything, been a Pentax user since 1981. My favorite was and still is the ME Super. Still have it on the shelf. And I guess I'm one of the few that likes the K-01. It's heavy, and hard to hold sometimes, but I still took some great shots with it over the years. But it's shutter also went out. From what I've read, that's a typical problem.

This k50 I'm sure is a good camera, when it works.

Thanks again for all your help!

problem with my K60

I just bought a "used but in excellent condition" Pentax K60. With a fully charged battery, properly inserted SD card, and using a Pentax lens, I cannot get the shutter to work. When I press the shutter, the camera either powers off, or simply does nothing. I have a K01 that I've used for several years, so I'm very familiar with this style of camera. Any advice?

Need a viewfinder...

I love the K-01, but had the same trouble you have, and after a lot of research, checking others feedback and recommendations, I decided to go with a "cheap" viewfinder, then upgrade to a more expensive one if I liked the cheap one. I bought a Xit XTLCDMVL Professional Locking LCD Viewfinder with 3.4X Magnification from Amazon.

Pro's: It fits well. It has a base that screws into the tripod mount, then the viewfinder simply slides on and off the base. No magnet or sticky stuff.
It fits the 3 inch screen perfectly, without blocking any of the buttons or controls on the back of the camera.
It provides a bright clear image even on the brightest day.
It's very light, it adds no extra weight to the camera, that's important if you carry the camera on a neck strap all day.
It cost me 28 dollars, and about 5 bucks for shipping.

Cons: You're looking thru a very cheap optical viewfinder, so the focus is sometimes off when you enlarge to 8x10 or more. But I almost always use the OK button or sometimes the focus peaking feature
anyway, so it seems to correct this problem.

I'll probably buy one of the more expensive Viewfinders somewhere later down the road, but for now, and for 28 bucks, this one does what I need done.
