Yeah, but the water is never still enough for some good reflections. Two days from then there was a huge storm in the area which i did not manage to capture.

The only white lights around, all the rest are very yellow. Looks nice to me :)

Thanks folks!

Actually I already have an ExpoDisc and it is a great thing. But the color temperature changes from shot to shot in a dynamic surrounding so a new measurement needs to be taken before each shot...
I keep comparing with k200 and it feels like the whites there are significantly whiter. Or maybe I am wrong :)

Thank you all for your answers! I can say that generally I'm happy with the AWB, yet the shade and clouds tend to fool it. At least in comparison with k200. Also there is not much of a difference between AWB and daylight preset with the clear sky or with a few clouds as on my first example, just a few Kelvin. So what's the point of having an extra preset if AWB does a good job in this case?

So there is a more or less full res jpg embedded in RAW and it affects the file size which is never the same as it was in k200. Now, what about RAW+, how is it different from RAW, why is it bigger?

Will this be OK for a "Cloudy" preset or is it still more or less clear sky and the "daylight" can be used?

The same question. What preset to use with this sky? (Sry, not much of a sky... but it is right before the rain)

I did not realize that, you've opened my eyes, thank you :) That explains a lot.

OK, so the bottom line is not to rely much on AWB. In this case how to see what light conditions will be to match the "shade" or "cloudy" preset? I mean how cloudy the sky has to be to apply one of those? I would appreciate some examples.
Michaelina2, good one, thank you!

Are you saying that the quick preview after shot is converted to JPG and thus all respective JPG settings are applied which I deliberately ignore while shooting in RAW? I'm sorry, it does not make much sense to me. I dont think that the developers are stupid enough to waste the system resourses on useless conversion of this kind.

I certainly realize that, but the question is how to prevent it from happening if possible. Of course manual is better, but sometimes AWB is just more convenient.

Hi Everyone.
I have noticed that the AWB is not accurate in the shades or under cloudy skies? It gives a strong blueish cast. The "shade" or "cloudy" preset give some orange cast which is not so good as well... Is it fixable in-camera? I'm shooting in RAW (DNG)

Custom image settings in RAW

Actually I never used the Pentax software... I started with Silkypix and the way it woks satisfies me.

That was my main concern. My hardware is the same, but it is noticably hard for Silkypix to chew these big files. I've read the presentation of the new version, but it is better to hear from someone who uses it. So can you say if v.6 is better in performance or output? Is it worth upgrading from v.5?

Thanks for your replies. I'm using Silkypix DSP5 on DNG files and i see that the color settings are crossed out leaving only black and white. So I was wondering if those custom settings work with the DNGs...

What are the differences between 5 and 6 versions?

Hi everyone,

A quick question. Do the custom image settings, that is these

apply to the RAW files or they work only with JPG?

Mine is on both, startup and shutdown. And I was also surprised as the TS not to hear anything. But my dog hears it quite well and the sound is disturbing for him. SO it proves that the system works :)

Thanks everyone! I'm still getting used to K-3, but I already LOVE it! I'm not saying that K200 was a bad one, it is a great camera if you get to deal with it, but the K-3 is adorable!

Hello everyone!
My name is Oleg and I'm from Ukraine. I've been a Pentax driver for some time, starting from the film camera MZ-60 and later switched to K200. Now I just could not pass by the latest B&H offer so my new camera is K3. I guess i will stick to this forum for a while to learn some new stuff.
