Gray hairstreak butterfly. Found it while its wings were still wet and unfurled. By the time I got the camera ready, the wings had straightened out.

It looks a lot like atmospheric interference. I’ve had similar output shooting through dense, moist air, especially at ground level. It doesn’t take much solar energy to make the air just above the ground a problem when the ground is wet. The great blue heron shot looks like the most obvious case of atmospheric interference though. Soupy air doesn’t make for the sharpest photos.

I do feel fortunate. I bought it off of the Pentax Market Place. It was just too tempting.

Of course, you can alway go bigger too. I had a fantastic Saturday with FA 600 F4. My back was pretty tired by the end of the day though.

Heard this little chorus frog chirping in the evening and went out to grab some shots in the rain using the 100mm macro 2.8 AW and a flash.

I had this issue on my DFA150-450. I ended up buying a cheap, broken DFA 28-105 from the Pentax Marketplace for parts to replace the damaged 150-450 contacts. It is a simple repair (if you can get the part). You could post in the “wanted” section to see if anyone has a suitable parts lens they’d sell you.
I tried the foil/craft material approach first without much longterm success.

You can manually remove the purple/green fringing in Lightroom. Select the manual tab on the lens correction tool and use the eye dropper tool. Simply place the eye dropper over an area that shows fringing. If that does not give you the result you want, hold down the Alt (PC) or CMD (Mac) key and manually adjust the sliders.

Thank you. The burst rate of the K3-III really helps for these kind of shots.
