Clearly the bird is in motion, which is cool. When I shoot Hummers or any other bird, I find I like the shot better when I get the focus on the eye.

I love the expression on the babies face and composition of the photo. This expression seems to say "There is so much in front of me" and "I love you so much Mom and Dad" at the same time.

Beautiful bird. Yes I agree. In my neighborhood, these guys as well as the Downy Woodpeckers are very skittish, especially compared to the finches.

As a novice, I say join a Pentax Forum Daily Challenge because it will require you to shoot and post everyday. This forum is full of generous people who will give you tips and advice. Furthermore you will find yourself looking everyday at the inspiration, creativity and talent of so many gifted and passionate photographers. You will get advice but you will also begin to learn how correct mistakes, though there are always more to make. It took me years to follow this advice and I wish I'd started this years ago.
