K-1 and 15-30 with Pixel Shift on then a fair amount of PP in Lightroom and a touch of Color Efex. It's a bit exaggerated but I like it overall. |

Nice evening out along the Missouri River. Didn't quite get the sunset clouds I was hoping for but still great as I continue to learn with this nice little camera. Missouri River Sunset by David Hill, on Flickr

Hi thanks for asking. I've been quite happy with it. The colors on the HD lenses are awesome. The 15 is excellently sharp in the middle and as with most of the 15s the corners suffer some. Great rendering lens imo, I just now use the 15-30 on my K-1. Here's a test shot I just took off my back deck focusing on the tree in my backyard, f10. About as dreary as possible out today so no colors but at least gives you an idea about the lens performance. Also including an older one taken with this lens. This is from a recent trip to DC, shot from the opposite side of the mall reflecting pool so a hefty distance. Shot with a KP and cropped a bit to fill the frame. This lens is a powerhouse.

K-1 with an old plastic F 70-210 zoom. Love the range the K-1 brings out of that and my F35-70. |

With it being so quiet at this point the prospects do certainly look grim for the Q's survival. I do a agree with Adam that Pentax risks alienating loyal fans by letting it slip away with no comment. I've only been serious about photography for a couple years now and the Q was my first camera I bought when that interest began to grow. I really love playing around with my Q and attaching K mount lenses to it also. I now own a Pentax full frame and aps-c that quite frankly would be another brand most likely if I had not first bought the Q after seeing some Blunty Youtube reviews. I have all the Q lenses except the toy versions and think the 08 lens with the Q is a perfect long distance hiking companion. Would hate to see my investment into the Q system less than two years ago (and a pricey but awesome 08 lens) fall by the wayside at some point. I'll certainly get the use out of my Q-S1 while it lasts but I think of all the things Pentax could do with a small mirrorless like the Q that just make me shake my head to see them let it slip away. In any case they do owe us some commentary one way or another, it's the right thing to do.

The bad weather interfered with my sunset pictures but was a nice first test with my K-1 with the new Pentax 15-30. This is a pixel-shift image with moderate wind. Turned out ok with just a few spots of movement in the grass. |

It was bugging me that there were no pics in this thread so I quick grabbed some tonight with my 85mm Bower. JPGs straight from the camera. I'm not a lens tester or anywhere close to an advanced user but I think they at least give you a good idea as to what you can expect.

Was lucky enough to be out in DC for work during the cherry blossom peak. I have an incredible amount of photos over 5 days to sort through. It truly is a beautiful sight despite the throngs of people there during the peak days. This was one of the first shots I grabbed for pp since it was my first decent attempt at a starburst with my 21mm SMC ltd. Cherry Blossom Starburst

So about 6 months ago I was a few clicks away from selling my HD DA 15mm. I had actually purchased the Pentax limited and later the Samyang 14mm and the Samyang was embarrassing the Ltd with sharpness. In fact I was somewhat convinced I had a bad Ltd lens. I've only been taking photos of significance for the last year or so and still consider myself to be a newb. After doing some last ditch reading I decided to fork out some bucks on autofocus calibration tools and software. All I can say is that I'm so glad I did make that extra slightly painful expense. That purchase was well worth the money with the photos I've been getting from my Ltd since. My lens needed a +8 adjustment, which is a lot, but it saved that lens for me and has allowed me to enjoy the beautiful Pentax colors that I love so much. It's true the Samyang is still sharper across frame, and my Ltd suffers a little on the left edge, but I'm extremely happy these days. With a little PP on shots, I couldn't be more content with Pentax lens and the joy it brings me. Not sure there is a big lesson out of this other than be sure to test your focusing before you ditch a lens for being "off". Even a newbie like me figured it out and saved my lens from being an orphan. January Morning along Lake Yankton |
