So any useful changes in the firmware?

What does it mean by "Flash range indication enhanced."?

I would like to have a feature to set the real dial not to function in the instance review mode....

Sometimes when I need to shoot few shots quickly with different aperture, or shutter speed. The real dial would zoom the picture just taken.

Of course it is possible to turn off the instance review but than it will cause another issue.

This is the same reason I am using Picasa. I find Picasa is very convenient.

I am also using a similar setting. If I am uploading to a site for people to buy, then I use original and maximum quaility. But I feel that it may not enough, I feel that the max quaility in Picasa may still compress too much. Hope this is wrong.

So probably I need a light room or similar for this..
But I am using Pentax Lab instead of Light room....

Another question is about upsize of jpg, I am also using another freeware called Neo Imaging.

There is "super fine quaility" option in the save as, and I find out that sometimes, this software will generate a bigger jpg than the original which seems to me weird.

Why is that or did the software "upsize" the jpg?

How do I know if a software has upsized a jpg?

I am using GIMP also, but i found out that it is very difficult to use and it takes time to learn.

Usuaully I use this to do the complicated jobs. However, easy tasks such as chopping, EV adjust, I will just use those simple software to manage. Is it a bad idea?

Usually, most of my pictures will share with my friends via picasa.

However, sometimes I will sell the photos via stock. In such case, I should use better software for such purpose.

My friends recommand me to use Light room or photoshop. It is also recommanded by many others, but it seems to me that they are too expensive.

What about the latest Pentax Utility comes with K-7? Is it better? Then it may be another reason to upgrade.

Yes, I am talking about the in-camera JPEG.

When I am doing comparison, I was actally using using another software FastStone Image Viewer - Powerful and Intuitive Photo Viewer, Editor and Batch Converter which supports 100% JPG side to side comparison. I did not notice any major differences.

However, I am not sure if the faststone does a better job in JPG comparing to Picasa. Or do you have any other (free) software you recommand?

The original JPG from my K20D is **** and 14M. So it is the highest JPG quality setting. But then I get your message. I should always use RAW to do the post editing and then export it to RAW... However, the Pentax Lab utility is very slow... That's why I am using Picasa because I usually edit the lighting.

In Picasa Export, there are settings to select the JPG quality.

When I am trying to export an untouch image using the best JPG quality setting, the JPG will be unchanged.
When I am trying to export an image with very minor adjustment (say 0.1 EV) using the same setting, the size of the JPG will decrease a lot.

I have seen some cases it will be down from 12M to 4M.

However, when I see the 100% chop of both, I don't see any major differences.

Did I miss something or why is that?

My major concern is when I am using Picasa export with the best export setting, will it decrease the image quality?

How to wirelessly trigger a Metz 48 AF-1 with manual mode

I just did one test and I found out the result is interesting. Perhaps it is described in the manual but I just miss it.

When the flash is in M mode, I press the "Select" and activate the SL mode. It seems that the Metz48 will fire full power. The object I was taking in the test shoot was just white off.

When the flash is in PPT mode, I press the "Select" and activate the SL mode. The Metz48 will fire the flash required. The exposure was correct.

However, if I set the power to 1/8 or 1/32 in M mode first then activate the SL mode, the flash will still fire full power.

Flash Trigger

Usually I don't shoot studio, I usually shoot landscape and outdoor. But I was just asked to help to shoot studio. So I come up these questions and it would be good some basic about studio shooting.

I guess in general most studio would provide a wireless flash trigger. So then I just need to decide if it is worth to invest on a better wireless flash trigger.

Thanks. In this case, if I buy a better wireless trigger so that I can go up to 1/120 or even 1/200, can it be used in a general studio?

What is the reasonable flash sync speed for this wireless trigger? Usually is it worth to buy or people just use the one provided by the studio?

Your definition is right.

The flash trigger was actually a small box attached to the hot shoe. When I press the shutter of the camera, it will trigger the studio flash to fire. But the flash trigger itself does not have a flash.

Since I just borrowed that flash trigger from the studio, I was not aware the brand of the flash trigger.

Yesterday just went to a studio to take pictures, first time for me. And after that got few questions.

I don't have either an external flash or flash trigger. But I borrowed a flash trigger from the studio.

1: When I was using the flash trigger, it seemed that the shortest shutter speed is 1/80. When I set the shutter than 1/80, the flash trigger did not trigger. What could be the problem?

2: My understanding is the flash sync of K20D is 1/180. If I am using an external flash trigger, will it be affected by this flash sync speed specification?

3: What are the differences between the in-built W flash mode and this flash trigger?

4: I I buy a flash gun rather than a flash trigger, except the flash gun itself will fire and flash trigger will not. What are the other advantages of using a flash gun comapring to a flash trigger?

Yes, at least one year.

Actually, i do think that Orchard should not be the right place for camera accessories, similar to Hong Kong.

Yes, let have a coffee and check your PM!

I am an one year Pentax user and I will move to Singapore.

Just yesterday, tried to walk around the shop in Orchard but cannot find a single shop which sells Pentax.

Where can I buy Pentax accessories in Singapore?
