The theme for the official PentaxForums photo contest for February, 2024 is: Series of Three
This month we want to see three related photos, copied into and submitted as one jpg image. The three photos must tell a story or be related in some way. They must as usual be shot with a Pentax or Ricoh camera, but the three photos need not be shot with the same camera and lens in which case you just enter the brand names in the designated fields when submitting. We recommend that you use the story or relationship as the title of the submitted image. Below is a couple of examples of stories: "Motion" and "Railroad Nostalgia". Good luck!
Click the button below to submit a photo for the contest (do NOT post in the thread you're reading now).
Remember: your submission must be taken with a Pentax camera or a Ricoh digital camera and be scaled to web-friendly resolution. After clicking on the link above, attach your photo using our attachment system (preferred) or link to an external image. Only 1 submission per person. And don't forget to nominate your favorites from last month. Click Here to go to the nominations page. Prizes 1st place: $50 B&H gift card (valid for up to 2 years) + homepage feature 2nd place: 1-year forum account upgrade (Marketplace seller access + greatly increased photo space) 3rd place: 50 sheets of premium photo paper from Red River Paper. I was in Athens in May this year. I broght the K-1 and 28-105. The focal length statistics of the keepers are shown below (rounded). I hope this can be of some help. I also brought the F 17-28mm, but didn't use it.

The theme for the official PentaxForums photo contest for December, 2023 is: Frame within a Frame
This month we are looking for images meeting the "Frame within a Frame" compositional style. That means that your main subject must be enclosed in a frame, which again is enclosed within the boundaries (frame) of your photo. The inner frame needs not to be "hard", but can be soft like shrub and the like, cf. the examples below. Good luck!
Click the button below to submit a photo for the contest (do NOT post in the thread you're reading now).

No reviews?
'cause we all already own the good ol' smc Pentax-FA 50mm F1.4!
There is little to no incentive to supplement with the HD version. The D FA, however, may be an intersting alternative, since it is designed for today's high resolution sensors. Just watch out - you could cut yourself on it - it is that sharp!

Shutter speeds between 1/90 sec and 1/180 sec or so results in soft images on the K-1 due to shutter slap. The same probably goes for the "II".
Ricoh's answer at the time was to introduce the electronic shutter option for the K-1.
I always use 1/60 or slower, or 1/350 or faster with my K-1 in order to ensure sharp images.
