There really should not be any issues using those two tamron lenses with a k-3. I have a few copies of these and I use those lenses all the time with my k-3 mk 1 bodies And k-3 mk3 and they function just fine with AF. If you look at the lens reviews here on pentax forums you will see many positive reviews of users using them on a k-3.

Add to it that both Tamrons work on the ops k-20d but not his k-3 to me points to the k-3 being the issue. Maybe check firmware updates on the k-3?

I was in the yard doing work and as habit, I always have a camera with me. We have a red Bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus) that nests regularly and was working on this years hole. We also have a pair of European starlings ( Sturnus vulgaris) that have been looking for a nest site. I heard a ruckus in the tree and grabbed my camera as the Starling fought with the woodpecker. Unfortunately the image was terrible backlit by the morning sun, so its heavily processed and I am still trying to bring out its best. They literally fell out of the tree locked in fight.

Bald Eagles here in CT are not as rare as they used to be, they at least nest here in a few places but its still really hard to find them reliably, so when birding seeing one is a real treat.. Its usually one thats adot in the sky or so far out in the marsh its splotch. Saw a "Splotch" in a tree across marsh and decided to see if I could get to it by car... and unbelievably ..I did.

How to remove dust on sensor

I haven't touched the focus screen, but the sensors I clean first by blowing air with a bulb... I use amazon.com : Pentax Sensor Cleaning Kit O-Ick1: Professional Sensor(Ccd/CMOS) Cleaning for Digital Slr Cameras, Mirrorless Cameras and Lenses Easy to Use with Urethane Resin Stick and Cleaning Sheets Made in JAPAN : Electronics?tag=pentaxforums-20& stubborn spots. I really like the pentax cleaning kit.Its easy to use and really does work, IME. Some of my older bodies seem to really need it after alot of outside time and lens changes.

Thanks.God knows how many half Birds in flight I have as well!!:) It wasn't too bad a miss really this time, I did get it in the water and taking off, but shooting from my trucks driver side, through the passenger window, I missed alot as flew out of the water and out of my field of view.. I really wanted a few in flight shots, but one was it.

My choice would be the first image. I like the light rays through the sky and I really like the wind turbine in contrast to the sky. The two elements combined make a great image I think.

The scond image is close but puts too much emphasis on the turbine.

Honestly I am not sure what the adapter adds so hard to say as far as if its similar to a 1.4 Tc.

Image attached shows the Nikon adapters vs HD TC

20220220_174050 by Al Sabetta, on Flickr

I set the lens to 500mm with SR

I too thought it was pretty good.. I am sure the lens used will also affect the images, The Tamron 200-500 is IMO , a very very good lens. On my nikons its become my go to alot of the time.

Apologies for the lack of technical info here, maybe others can try the adapter and more info... I was looking to see more of a real world, "Is it even worth trying? " "Does it work?" approach.

al

edit.. Image to the left with label cut off is the cheapo ebay one I turned into an extension tube.
