Yes I agree with most that DSLR video is a very intriguing concept, and definately opens many doors and simplifies many processes. My point is that DSLR as it is now will not overshadow traditional Cinema cameras (whether they be 35mm, 16mm, or HD) in traditional commerical, and film shoots. The Red has definately made a huge dent in the market but it is a camera modeled after Cinema cameras. And their Scarlett and Epic systems will be able to be set up as Still cameras, or built as cinema cameras which I think is highly promising.

I imagine it was not the primary camera, or the director and or creatives wanted a very specific look, i.e not traditional commercial look. I work in one of the biggest production houses in the US and UK as well

Are you serious? What you just layed out is a very narrow photographic path. Let me guess, you are a lanscape photographer, yes? Just because certain things dont apply to your style and or business model, does not mean other people can find benefits in many if not all of the points already discussed. What makes Pentax great is the near infinite Lens possibilites, what would be really great is mixing some great LEGENDARY lenses with modern technologies and capabilities, otherwise why arent you shooting film?

EDIT: and the comment for film is not a dig, I still shoot film for any stills i cant feasibly do with a digital camera

You are correct when it comes to the home level, and i defiantely see it being utilized much more in the photojournalistic and dare i say "paparrazzo" fields, but a DSLR will never take the place of a professional film making camera (35mm, 16mm or digital), cmeras that are designed and built specifically for FILMMAKING, like Movies, commercials, and Music Videos. Red has the right approach with their modular systems they are developing with the Scarlett and Epic SYSTEMS

Commercials, and i mean REAL commercials, like national ads, ones for brands like McDonalds, Ford, Budwesier, etc, ARE NOT shot with DSLR's, more commercials these days are definately shooting RED more and more, but the RED is geared much more to the pro FILM level than ANY DSLR. The only thing i could think of seeing the 5dmkII used for on commercials of these levels are as action cameras, or car mounts, or timelapse. It's about the same price to buy a canon 5dmkII and have it destroyed for an action shot then to have an insurance claim on a pro level film camera that was destroyed because the crash housing failed (which i have persoanlly seen happen).

the Wii is not a gimmick, its a whole new way to game, I got mine 2 years ago and still play it when i have the time, and if i ever do have a moment to pick up a 360 or ps3 contoller i long for the intuitive motion control aspects of the Wii

"I work at the broadcast commercial industry . our studio have 2 5D's and our video photographers using them as a main tool for HD video photography"

It's called pulling focus, i.e manually focusing the lens as you follow or switch focus to another subject.

Been trying to find full information about the K20d's timelapse feature. I want to know the capabilities of the intervalometer, how many intervals can you set? How many pictures can you set it to take? If any one has the full intervalometer specs for the K20d that would be great. Thanks.
