It isnt?....from what I can see is that all the camera and lens companies compete for the customers money.

LOL, pull the other one....they seized nothing. They have not the resources to compete.
All they've done is carry on(at a snails pace) with what they know.
Certainly there is some innovation but each company shows that too.

Not always, maybe sometimes.
No problems with adapting the EF and EFs lenses I own to the R series bodies.
As a matter of fact Ive read many accounts of the Dslr glass working better on the R bodies than on the actual camera bodies the lenses were made for. I cant judge that because ive never owned a Canon Dslr, only Pentax. While you may find that strange, there was a time when Fuji didnt make a 70-300 or a 150-600,so we adapted EF mounts to our Fujis which worked quite well too.
The reason for the lenses working better is probably because they were mounted on better bodies with more modern processors.
I'm also under the impression that Nikon worked the same way but there was some glitches with their first gen adapter.
In the case of Pentax glass, it seems to be mainly positive reactions with the AF Monster adapter.UncleVanya is having an issue right now.So we can wait and see that outcome. ---------- Post added 02-12-24 at 07:38 PM ----------

Nice!...at first I thought orange was my favourite but then thought it was a bit overdone. So I decided BLUE was my first pick followed by GREY.
Looking forward to a user report down the track.

Only while Ricoh think its feasible ,If the Ricoh board decide that they dont want cameras and lenses in the product range then only used Dslrs are alive.
Mind you that could be tomorrow(unlikely) or 100 years from now.
Perhaps there will be a resurgence like other things that are outdated and considered obsolete but we wont know till that time comes.
All the Glass wont ever be obsolete, it can be adapted to Mirrorless forever.

The bar of soap, its often referred to...its a great camera to use and if you add the elCheapo plastic covers off Ebay it improves the handling and adds protection.

In 1999 just over 5 million digital cameras were shipped, from then on numbers increased until 2010 when they peaked around 121 million.Thats a huge boom to ride for camera companies. As always, booms can pass.It just so happens the decline has been helped along by phone makers putting cameras in their equipment.
The camera market is returning to its true level. Its not going away and the levels of capability rise every year.

....And how much you willing to pay?
The alternative is a EF Viltrox Speeeedboooooster with a FF 70-200 f2.8 which becomes an F2

Surfing, but I dont use the 70/200 or own the other 2.I use a BIGma 50-500mm.
I wouldn't call any of those 3 lenses "long"...they are all "medium" telephoto focal lengths. Some may dispute that by saying the 150-450 on a crop camera with the 1.4x TC is a fair reach and I suppose it is for some scenarios. However, there are better alternatives from other brands to shoot long.

2x crop factor aids telephoto stuff which is my main interest....I'm wondering how or if,Panasonic will respond to the 150-600???
I'll follow the results of the OM Bigma closely and see if the shooters get better than the crop canons with their 200-800.

Well, the primes peak at 200mm.Mind you that one is F2 and adding the 1.4x and 2x extending TCs bring FOV up and speed down. The drawback being all those costalotta.
So the area where they could expand on is telephoto primes. ---------- Post added 02-01-24 at 07:38 AM ----------
Good question, but I think the first production run will sell out quickly.
Reason being is the 100V is selling used at above the RRP that it was released at, so those owners could/may dump the "oldie" for this newby. Some will.

Being the owner of lots of WR photo equipment(plenty of brands), its just insurance for me.
First time I used my K50 I got rained on, second time I intended to take a mirrorless unsealed camera until I saw the clouds gathering.I took the k50.
Twice in a LOT of years...Pentax shone through lol.

The more I think of it the more its beyond excessive.
Checking the Sony version price, the best I can find down under is the equivalent of U$ 1163.Thats a massive difference for the same optics.
ATM I can buy a A6700 twin lens kit for U$ equivalent 1594, So buying the Sony version you get 150-600 plus 12-50 plus 55-210 and the A6700 .ALL for U$2757
I should sell my OM1mk 3(plus all the other M43 stuff, like UncleVanya did.) and get the Sony gear
