Are there any other photogs who are in the same path of 365 days?
It would be interesting to share experiences.

My suggestion would be to read a wonderful book Digital Asset Management for Photographers written by Peter Krogh. Buy that DAM book or at least read the first chapter available for free at their web site http://www.thedambook.com/TheDAMBook_Chapter1.pdf to get you inspired about photo files management and organization. The main idea of file naming would be [your initials]_[date yyyymmdd]_[original 4 digit file no]. That way you won't have duplicate files. Hope this helps.

0001 - your digital life starts anew :)

sometimes (when stuck) one needs to flip a coin and then make final decision based upon his/her mind/heart/gut balance. Wishing you to have the best shot! Both cameras are worth to own.

flyer, ve2vfd thanks a lot for your suggestions. I forgot to mention that it would be the second time I'll be in Montreal. First I visited this beautiful city in 2002 but... 2 days I was suffering from jet lag and on a fourth day I was packing my luggage for getting back to Lithuania. So hopefully this time I'll have more time to explore this beauty. BTW I am staying at the hotel where Desjardins headquarters are located (I think it's Ste-Catherine street?).

It is hard to be specific about what I want to see - it is the architecture, nature - the autumn maple leaves (red, yellow, green and brown), waterfalls and of course the city life. I do believe that Quebec city will be on my list as well.

I'll google map your suggested places on my pentax-shooting-route.
Thanks a lot once again!

Hi folks,

I'll be visiting Montreal 27/09 through 06/10. What would be your suggestions for places to visit and/or 'must see'. Gonna bring my k10d with kit lenses... so maybe someone could recommend the good place to buy lenses and other photo accessories?

Thanks
Fortis

The same question I had three months ago... K200d vs K10d. And the winner was... K10D :)
1. 98% of the shooting time my eyes look through the viewfinder and it is a way better in K10D

2. Lithium vs AA (even not in jungles). Bought one spare lithium with a charger that has "cigarette ligher" adapter that you may find in every car and that's it! You may not find a power outlet in the jungle or even a store to buy AA but there will be a car to get there ;)

3. Scenes... Now I agree with WMBP that "presets" are more to be of disadvantage. BTW K10D has a "green" mode to shoot in auto.

three months ago... standing near the counter... 5 minutes left and the store will close its door... K10D

? about M42 screw Lens to K mount adapter

I use genuine Pentax M42 mount adapter. My main reason of choosing it instead of cheaper ones at fleabay was availability to focus to infinity. Though it is original however it could be tricky to mount at first times but after several attempts you'll find out "the right angel" of putting it.

Few days ago just got another old M42 - it's Helios 44-M 2/58 for 14.5 Euros. Well, as advised before, I've read through forum's posts on these lens and found that there is an issue of stop down pin that might struck in the contacts.

Tonight's mission was to "disable" the pin. Everything was... not so bad until ball bearings fell down from aperture ring. Well I even did not noticed the place they fell from but "an insight envisioned me" and I finally assembled the lens. By the way it was not so hard to put bearings in place with a needle. Done!

...and I don't think LBA should strike me - just windowshopping for another one... maybe telephoto :)

I meant that my troubles with old lenses were over having M42 adapter... but it's not
I have to have M39 as well ;)

Yesterday tried KMZ Industar-50-2 50mm f/3.5-16.0 I liked it but did not like the way the camera looks with open contacts in front.

Thanks felix68,

I'll check for M39>M42 adapter in fleabay... thought it was over with M42 :)
What are possible issues when mounting two adapters (my M42 is genuine Pentax)?

Hi folks,

This is my first post and a cry for help :) Few weeks ago I just opened that old box of my grandpa's photo gadgets and took three lenses to try:
Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f/2.0-16.0 No. 3021043
Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm f/4.0-22.0 No. 2680360
KMZ Industar-50-2 50mm f/3.5-16.0 No. 86069495

The Industar fitted perfectly on my K10D with genuine M42 mount on however the CZJ oldies are to loose to fit. Please advise, do I need some special adapters for them or they wont mount in any way?

Thanks,
Fortunatas (aka fortis)

Greetings to all penatxians from Kaunas, Lithuania!

Purchased K10D - my first DSLR three weeks ago. Googled for Pentax user forums intensively and all of a sudden I noticed this forum to be the place I visit everyday. So many tips, advices and encouragement in one place!

Started to shoot at the age of 3 :) with my grandfather's numerous cameras (he was a prophotographer), at 12 yrs I bought my first camera Vilia (produced by BeLomo, fs 24x36mm, lens Triplet 69-3 4/40) and I still have it collecting the dust :o. Good memories about it - earned my first pennies while shooting the events. Unfortunately, later I downgraded myself to as we call "soap camera" - some noname p&s film :ugh:. History.

Three years ago I stepped into the digital p&s (Canon PoerShot A510) and three weeks ago went a bit further into DSLR world with K10D and kit lens D-FA 18-55 mm (hard choice K10d vs K200D, easier choice K10D vs Nikon D60, "no" choice K10D vs Canon EOS 400D)

And now... following your advices - reading the manual, bought YB K10D book, tossing for Lowerpro vs Tamrac bag (and the winner is... Tamrac System 3 5603 bag) and of course visiting this forum on a daily basis ;)

Regards,
Fortunatas (aka fortis)
