Nice photos Mike! We also have herons just outside our cabin by the fjord here in Norway. As a rule they come for fishing in the evening when it to dark to take photos. The herons are very shy, a small movement and they are gone. I have got some heron photos, but not good enough to be posted I think. :-)

No, this is not from the horror-thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock (1963). This is Rooks ( Corvus frugilegus). A colony of them lives near our compartment in Trondheim. There is only a few houndred pairs in Norway. The photo is shot from our veranda by the way. The yellow building is a typical old Norwegian railwaystation, you can find them all over the country.

Yesterday we visited Halten, a 30m high light house established in 1875. We arrived after a boat trip of 40-50 km to the west in direction Iceland.

Ole Evinrude was born in Norway 1877. He and his family emigrated to America 1882.
During a picknick on an island, Evinrude made a 5-mile round-trip rowboat in 90-degrees heat, to fetch his beloved some ice cream. This rowing trip inspired him to develop an outboard motor. Evinrude founded Evinrude Motors in Milwaukee. Evinrude's outboard motor was the first commercial sucess in 1909.
