Hi
I've been looking at the Sigma 105mm and the Pentax 100mm. Currently the Pentax is £70 more and I was how much better is the Pentax? Has anyone seen results from both of these or knows about the differences?
Thanks, Paul

Hi
I have a couple of rookie questions.
How long does an exposure have to be before the Noise Exposure kicks in on the K10D?
What circumstances would be good to switch it off?
I'm going to be doing some night photography and wondered what effect it would have in switching it off. Last time I did some on long exposures it took a while before the NR finished.
Thanks, Paul

Hi
Skylight or UV. Which is best to use to protect your lens and why?

Hi
When I put my photos into a folder and have a look at them in the finder (Mac OS) they look as if they have a black frame at the top and bottom if landscape and at the sides if Portrait. I then have a look in bridge and at first it is the same but then the picture changes to what it should look like. Any ideas why this happens?
Thanks, Paul

Thanks for the replies so far. One other thing. Which form of Auto focus do you tend to prefer. Auto, SEL or Centered?

I just wanted to hear from people who use manual focus all, most or some of the time as to why they do and what benefits it brings?
Thanks, Paul

Just got the K10D and shot at night for the first time with it. This one is probably the worst example of the flare that I got.
I have a Hoya 0.75 pitch UV filter (coated both sides) on the front of the lens. It was fairly cheap so I guess that it serves me right and I should either shoot without a filter or spend a bit more. Recommendations??
Thanks, Paul

Great stuff. There's a real mixture of general photography and specific K10D tips.

Just tried this in PhotoME and instead of Model Revision it has Production ID.
Any ideas why that might be?

Yes. I have seen that the 50mm lens is quite cheap. I take it that the quality is still quite good? I currently just have the standard 18-55mm but I think I will get to learn how to use the camera a bit better before thinking of a new camera.
Thanks, Paul

Hi
I've just starting taking photography a bit more seriously this year. I did used to own a Olympus OM10 many years ago but with purchasing a digital Sony P&S camera a few years back I got into taking a lot more snaps.
Now it's time to move on from snaps and since February I have been using a Fuji S6500fd (bridge camera) mainly in aperture priority mode and for the last couple of months I have been looking at getting a DSLR. When I saw that my local camera shop was selling refurb K10Ds for £350 with a years warranty I did a bit of investigating and realised that there is nothing on the market as good as the that. I think the Nikon D60 is a bit more and it's not as good. I spoke to someone who owns a K10D and had a look on the net and decided to get one.
With the Fuji I have been shooting mainly in RAW and sorting the photos out initially in the Fuji software and recently in ACR. I wouldn't say I'm an expert in Photoshop and just like photography I have a lot to learn.
Thanks, Paul

I'm not one of these people who believe using photoshop is cheating and I think that just like in painting and other art forms photography is a broad church and can accept all types of people who express their art in whichever way they want. I might not like all art I see in a gallery but it doesn't mean that because it is not to my taste that the art has no value.
Sorry if the last paragraph is a bit heavy.
Thanks, Paul
