The KP is a great camera and I am extremely happy with mine. The only comment I can add is that I recommend using only the oem Pentax battery. I had a couple of Watson batteries that after 18 or so months I had to throw away as they started to swell and became difficult to remove from the camera. I've used other Watsons for other cameras
and never had problems.

This lens shines on crop as well as on full frame. I'll never be without it as long as i shoot Pentax. Good luck with the sale.

I notice that when viewing your exif data that they show the date taken as various days in 2017 and not 2021. Does this have something to do with the Sigma lens not having up to date firmware or ??

A similar thing happened to me years ago with my first Pentax dslr, the *istDL. What happened with me was when testing the camera one day I was firing off flash shots in rapid succession which apparently stressed the capacitor causing it to fail. It was an easy repair for the shop, just replaced with a new one. Lesson learned.

GR I and II = 28 - 35 - 47 focal lengths. Stellar lens. Fits in your pocket. Been shooting with them since 2013. GRIII probably will be even better with 24mp sensor.

I've seen some absolutely beautiful film like images with a CCD sensor cam and Takumar lenses. A salute to you Dartmoor Dave ;)

Similar to my situation - my 5 yr old GR, while still taking pics, is in need of a good cleaning and some buttons are starting to occasionally stick. I'm very interested in the new GRIII but not sure I want to wait until sometime(?) in 2019 and not sure about spending $900 to $1,000. I took delivery of my new GRii from B&H just the other day and at $499 I have no reason to look back.
A side note, I was curious as to my shutter count and found this quite easy and slick way I've copied from an Instagram post by Ned Bunnell - "Without powering up the camera, select "Movie" mode on the top mode dial. Then simultaneously press the "Playback" and "DISP" buttons. Then use the right 4-way control button to go to the second screen which shows your shutter count." Works like a charm. Thanks to you Ned if you see this.

At the time that I bought the GR back in 2013, I also had the DA 21 which I really, really liked. After using the GR and comparing images from both I ended up selling the DA 21 and used the money to buy the GW-3 wide angle convertor (stellar images @ 21mm equiv) for the GR and have never regretted it. That 21mm equiv would come in handy in the smallish European environments. Were I to travel to Europe again I would take the GR + GW-3 + DSLR with the F50 1.7 and everything would fit in a smallish sling bag. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. ps make sure you have back-up batteries for the GR as they typically don’t last as long as your Dslr.

Hello Kevin. I know that you are a GR user as I am and I've seen your fine work on flickr. I've recently moved and now have some large blank walls and I'm planning to make some big prints as well. I was wondering, have you done any large prints from the GR ?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll check them out and give an update here. I did look at eBay and a seller in Japan had one but their seller feedback wasn't very good so I passed on that one for now. I really like the FA 20-35 on my K-1, I use it mostly for outdoor landscapes thus the desire for a hood. Some prices seem kind of outlandish, but maybe that's what I'll need to pay for one.

I've been looking for the original hood, PH-RBA 58, and it seems to be like searching for the yeti. There is one seller on ebay with an estimated ship date of several weeks out, but his feedback is very sketchy. KEH doesn't list any.
Does anyone know of another source or an alternative hood to use in place of the original ?

On another forum there are a few people who placed orders for the GRii a few weeks ago with B&H and they are saying that they were given an arrival date of December 10th. I love my GR and it's getting a little long in the tooth so I have been waiting to see if there will be a GRiii before replacing mine. I didn't upgrade to the GRii since there isn't a difference in the lens or sensor from the GR. If Ricoh decides not to continue the line I'll hopefully then get the GRii (I hope Ricoh doesn't discontinue the line without any announcement :(

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
Pentax DA* 16-50 Asking Price
325.00 USD Item Location
Pennsylvania (United States) Item Description
I’ve had this fine weather sealed lens for quite a while but haven’t given it much use lately, so it’s time to let it go. I noticed a few months ago that the SDM was failing and so I sent it to a forum member to convert it to screw drive. It now focuses quickly and accurately.
It will come with the original front and rear caps, hood, pouch and box.
Front and rear elements are clean and mark free. Except for one particular speck of dust (which I have shown in one of the pictures), tiny bits of internal dust are present, but honestly they are often even hard to see. None of them affect images in any way.
It’s quite inspiring to shoot a quality pro lens on our weather sealed bodies in lousy weather, I’ll miss it. I have excellent feedback here and so you can be confident that you will get this as stated here. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Just received my DA*16-50 back from Uncle Vanya. Converted to screw drive, works perfectly and I think the auto focus works as well as it ever did. Thanks Uncle Vanya.

Over 100 miles away, which is the distance from my home, Pittsburgh, to Cleveland Ohio. Dodd Camera in Cleveland is awesome. Many Brands, good inventory. Top Notch sales staff. It's a pleasure to make the 2 hour drive up there just to walk around and soak up the goodness.
